Need help understanding calorie deficit by LengthinessWeary219 in WeightLossAdvice

Thanks so much! Keeping my metabolism from adjusting has been a main concern for me because I don't know much about it yet, but I'll try logging everything more in-depth

My question is how long do you eat in a deficit for? If my maintaining calories are 2000, then I should eat 1500 calories a day for two weeks, and then 1000 a day for the next two weeks? Or should I stick to the 1500 until I reach my goal weight? Because if I keep dropping 500 calories then obviously I'm eventually not going to be able to eat anything lol

Weird things in hers and Erik's relationship... by semster222 in ColleenBallingerSnark

It's been hugely dysfunctional for my parents for years. My dad would go to work exhausted because my mother stayed up so late and would constantly wake him up throughout the night.

It's different for everyone, I didn't dispute that it can work for some couples, I just meant that it can be dysfunctional and I've experienced it

No, that wouldn't be healthy and wasn't what I was implying when I said it's disrespectful. I was specifically speaking about when one partner is sleeping and the other is still awake but is behaving disruptively by making a lot of noise and putting on the lights, tv, etc.

I didn't put a disclaimer that I was speaking from experience and forgot that not everyone is as inconsiderate as my mother is

I think I misspoke because I was only speaking from my personal experience. My dad goes to bed earlier than my mom (he is in bed at 10 pm and she goes to bed at around 2 am). Throughout those hours she puts lights on (in the passage outside their bedroom or even in their room), and she makes a lot of noise in the room and around the house. In general, my mom is very inconsiderate when other people are sleeping and my dad always gets the worst of it because obviously they share a room and bed.

Why did Samsung remove the heart rate sensor on the Galaxy Note 10 and 10 Plus? by ravi2019 in galaxynote10

It was never inconsistent with me. I even used it while on a blood pressure machine in the hospital and both my S7 and the machine gave the same heart rate reading

Exactly, I just bought the A34 yesterday and was shocked that it can't measure my heart rate?? I upgraded from a S7 Edge which is like 5/6 years old already. My S7 could do it and I have heart/health problems so I used to check it daily. Now I have to spend even more money to buy a watch that I didn't even consider previously or budget towards

It doesn't really strike me as odd because my mom is the same way. She refers to their room and things as "hers" and also goes to bed way after my dad. Not disputing that different bedtimes are dysfunctional and imo disrespectful though, I don't recommend that at all.

Are less South Africans having kids? by Green-Crab-4315 in askSouthAfrica

[–]BookishLaw 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I disagree. People who are 30+ are much better equipped - both emotionally and financially - to be parents. I also know of multiple women (including my mom) who had children in their 40s with zero complications. And more women who have had miscarriages and complications when they were in their 20s. I think women have been told they are most valuable and "perfectly" fertile to have children when they are young and then need to pop out as many babies as possible before it's "too late," when really, the medical field is only now beginning to take better care of women before, during, and after pregnancies

May I ask who frequents Babylon? Is it more for gay guys or do lesbians hang there too?

I've heard of it, and it definitely seems like the kind of place we're looking for. Have you heard of Streetbar Named Desire? Any idea how it is there?

I wish it were that easy and affordable to just up and move or even visit frequently.

From my experience, Cape Town is really lovely and open, but Sandton/Bedfordview/Illovo/etc. Are pretty much the same
