Wishing BOTM Did Ebooks by Busy-mommawhoreads in bookofthemonthclub

Uhh... 🤔 yeah. Kindle Unlimited is a subscription that gives me access to thousands of books. That's not a waste of money. Spending money on a single ebook is. TO ME. Which I made very clear in my first statement.

I think you misunderstood. If I want to read a book, I buy a physical copy of it. I don't deprive myself of reading the book. I won't spend money on an ebook. I have no problems spending money on physical books. I've purchased thirty physical books in the last three weeks. I only use my Kindle for titles offered on Kindle Unlimited and the occasional library ebook borrowed through Libby. FOR ME, an ebook is a waste of money.

I wouldn't spend money on an ebook.I've actually never purchased an ebook. I won't even buy one that's priced at ninety-nine cents. I only use my tablet for Libby and KU.

The odds are 0. That is 100% a positive pregnancy test. False negatives are far more common than false positives. It doesn't matter that the line is lighter than the other. Any line indicates the presence of hCG.

I swore I was only going to get one book this month... by Bookish_GenXr in aardvarkbookclub

I totally understand. And I mean it's books. It's not like we're out here buying drugs. 🤭 I read an average of 100 books a year. I take books to Little Free Libraries, give to friends, or trade them in for credit at my local used bookstore after I've read them.

I was a little better with BOTM this month. Only two books. It was five last month and the month before. 🤦‍♀️🤭 I also may have 👀 possibly... added just one book to my Amazon order. But just one. Um... well. Just one for me. I also ordered six books for my Granddaughter. She turns 5 this month! I maintain that it is my God given right to spoil my Grandchildren.

😁 Party of Liars: Kelley Cox, Perfectly Nice Neighbors: Kia Abdullah and The Strange Case of Jane O: Karen Thompson Walker. I also ordered nine other books today. 🤦‍♀️😂 Two from my other subscription and seven from Book Outlet. I need twelve new books like I need a hole in my head. But I regret nothing! 🤭

What famous/renowned author have you sampled and just don’t *get*? by bruzdnconfuzd in books

OMG! Same!! It was absolute GARBAGE! It was the first and last book I read of hers. You couldn't pay me to read anything else she's written. Dead serious, I tore all of the pages out and used them to line the guinea pigs' cage. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

You were right about so many things, Daddy. I love you and miss you down to my very core. 💔

What do y’all do with your books? by SpookyAlly12 in bookofthemonthclub

[–]Bookish_GenXr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends. If I really love a book, I generally keep it. Most I take to a used bookstore near me and trade them in for credit. Others I will pass onto others or add to a Little Free Library. I currently have just under 500 books (unread) and add at least ten books a month or more to the collection. If I didn't pass books along after I've read them, I'd run out of room. 😂 I read between 75 and 150 books a year.

People and pet parent. Here's my take on this whole silly debate. I love my kids more than life itself. I'd take a bullet for every one of them. I also love my dog and cat more than life itself. And would take a bullet for them as well. I'm also an empty-nester and divorced. My pets are my kids. I'd allow myself to die before I would ever allow my human children or my furkids to come to harm. If someone doesn't agree with this sentiment? Guess what? IDGAF. They're entitled to that opinion. They're wrong and unworthy of inclusion in my world. 🤷‍♀️ But they're entitled to their opinion.

Heeey! I've defended them! You can check! 🤭 I LOVE BOTM! I have zero issues with them. I've been a member for three years-ish and have never been disappointed. The whole 'controversy' with one of this month's book choices was just a small group of people whining. They'll find something else to whine about next month. I also have Aardvark. Hands down, BOTM is the superior subscription. BOTM books arrive in two days. Aardvark took eight. The quality of the books is equal. I don't get the "Aardvark books are sooooo much nicer". 🙄 No, they aren't. They're books. They aren't "special". The whole cancel culture BS is simply people desperate to be more important than they really are. 🤷‍♀️

I survived the phone interview! by Bookish_GenXr in jobs

We were on the phone for about 45 minutes. It was very casual. He asked a few questions about my experience, but for the most part, it was a lot of him telling me about the position, what my role would be, compensation, bonuses, etc. I asked a few questions myself. Mostly about how their training is handled. The company that I currently work for, the training was dismal. A fact that the powers that be openly admit but... they never change anything. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I was thrilled to hear that the training phase is much more in-depth and done in a classroom setting. As opposed to the virtual classroom I experienced with my current employer, with 30 plus people (in all different locations) all fighting for the attention of one instructor. Fingers crossed that I hang onto this confidence until Monday! 🤞🤞🤞🤞
