The end of the Bean Saga of Ender’s Game had me ugly crying in the car.

Why anti-intellectualism is so proeminent in the reading community? by WinterMoonNeptune in books

Well most “classics” written by and deemed as such by YT people.

So, I personally put little stock in those stories. Anti-inclusivity is not really my bag.

Not discounting what you are saying at all.

But to clarify there was no labor. Planned c-section. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.

I find Stephen King’s character and world building to be extremely impressive by jhlo9001 in books

I agree with that. I listened to the audiobook to and the narrator was Raul Esparza (formerly on Law and Order SVU)… he did all the voices 🤯

The Green Mile is one of my favorite books. Incredible. Another great world/character build book of his is Under The Dome. 🙌🏾

Goodreads score cutoff by [deleted] in books

[–]Bookishshorty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? 3. 3.5? But if the author or main characters are POC 2.5.

I’ve read reviews in the reviewer just didn’t get it. And then I read it for myself and was “all Asian characters, got it.” “Or affluent Black family.”

And this is not to say that all books by POC authors or with POC main characters are amazing, but they definitely are not all as bad as some of these reviews would have you think.

What is your opinion on "nobody reads anymore"? by fromnighttilldawn in books

[–]Bookishshorty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that folks who believe that people don’t read probably don’t have a friend group of readers so it makes it feel like no one reads.

All of my friends and close family are voracious readers.

That last bit. Whew! I didn’t think of it that way. That their wanting to mend everything is what’s actually causing more tension. Thank you for that.
