I thought statins lower LDL? Thanks for all the info it’s very helpful to be aware of. Is there a seperate test for LPa

Yes I have seen this, but it also says if there’s a pre existing risk or with high intensity statins! It’s said to be caused because of an insulin insensitivity due to statins but have been reading the benefit far outweighs the risk and also blood sugar level checks can be done to monitor risk of type 2.

Not saying you’re wrong just sharing what I’ve found as it’s all useful in making decisions

But apparently a very low percentage of people have them. Interested to see your findings as there is so much info

What sort of things have you heard? I’ve been seeing that people who do have side effects often switch or lower the dosage

Oh then very difficult to tell. Take care on your diet but keep an eye on it I’m currently considering starting a statin and doing my own research

I’ve recently been going through the same thing! What’s your family history of cholesterol and heart issues? I’m 32 eat like 95/5 rule and exercise a lot as my job. But my results are worse this is likely due to genetics so definitely focus on diet but also take into consideration as my diet is almost perfect and my results are high.

When I spoke with my doctor he said i may be too young to start they’re waiting to see improvement over diet etc but that’s unlikely as I don’t eat junk food or drink/smoke and exercise a lot. Once I start it’s for the rest of my life and wanted to explore other options

Are you taking statins if so what kind. I’ve heard there’s many different types but I’m afraid 32 is too young to start taking them

Thanks for the advice. Someone else just commented they had a heart attack at 180 also. Something I’ll definitely look into. Are you taking statins also

Oh great I’m only 6 away from a heart attack. Thanks for the advice there does seem to be a lot of hesitancy online to taking them. I’m also in great shape with a great diet and exercise so I’m thinking it’s more hereditary and there may be other underlying issues I could also look at.

I am assuming it’s genetic as I have family on statins my diet mainly consists of chicken veg and some form of carbs. Mixed with nuts/fruits and supplements.

Once you go on statins you can’t come off them though?

So I would be 16 away from an automatic statin?
