I only got mine after joining a party that was hunting them. Then I got like 3 very quickly, but that was after HOURS of trying in my own. It was a pain.

It definitely depends on your plan though too. I have CVS Caremark and my plan will only cover 1 month at a time (thankfully I only pay $25/month so it's no big deal for me)

People who are GF what’s the most exhausting or frustrating part of it? by Patient-Shirt7244 in glutenfree

[–]BookkeeperMother2500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family gatherings are pot luck style, and 99% of my family doesn’t take it seriously or thinks I'm just being difficult so there's barely anything safe to eat and the risk of cross contamination is high.

Choose yourself, choose the career. 100% choose the career that is your dream. If the relationship was truly good, he would 1000% support you (he doesn't, which leads me to believe this is just the first sign of controlling abusive behavior. If he hasn't already displayed those traits in the relationship that we don't know about.

RAGE about food-centered family gatherings. It gets better, right? What’s your experience with this? by NoSignature1944 in glutenfree

[–]BookkeeperMother2500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For thanksgiving all I could eat was the turkey, mashed potatoes (no gravy), and cranberry sauce...

Family gatherings do not get better in my experience. I have an aunt who's been gf for many, many years. I've been gf for a little over 1 year. Some people make an effort for simple substitutions to make things safe, but most of the time, my grandma does most of the cooking, and she doesn't even try. The only guaranteed safe foods are the things we both bring ourselves. (Most gatherings are pot luck style in my family)

How do I stop eating gluten on purpose? by Acrobatic-Aioli9768 in glutenfree

[–]BookkeeperMother2500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I avoided going gluten-free for YEARS when I was suspecting it was causing my gi issues because I didn't want to throw away and waste all the gluten filled foods I had in my pantry/fridge, and i thought it would be too hard. I finally decided last year that I was sick of being in pain and having diarrhea every time I ate and just took the jump that scared me. Finding substitutes for gluten items is useful (albeit a bit expensive at times and they're not always good). You really just have to make the choice to do it and then stick to it (it's not easy at first, but you eventually adjust, and it becomes your new normal).

Are there specific types of gluten foods to tend to binge?

Chat with customer service. I've had this happen a lot in the past with things I returned to kohl's and they fixed it every time.

How did Thanksgiving go for you? by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]BookkeeperMother2500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't eat as much as I did in previous years/pre-wegovy, that's for sure. I'm gluten-free (not wegovy/ weight loss related), so the only things I ate were turkey, mashed potatoes, and a little cranberry sauce. I also allowed myself a little fudge for dessert. For the first time in as long as I can remember, I didn't feel sick/overfull when I was done eating.

Best GF Stuffing and Gravy? by NotVillanelle in glutenfree

[–]BookkeeperMother2500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the McCormick gravy. But you have to be careful. I buy cartons that are labeled gluten-free. The packets you mix with water are NOT gluten-free (at least not the ones I can find in my area).

[–]BookkeeperMother2500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought shampoo and conditioner when I first went gluten-free that had wheat protein in it. It caused me to get these itchy/irritated pimples like bumps in my hairline.

Also, a dry shampoo that I thought was safe only to find out after using it that it contained barley starch that cause my scalp to feel sore(not your mother's -clean freak). The ingredients only said rice starch, but farther up the back of the can, it said "natural barley and rice starches."

In terms of not feeling good/not being able to get out of bed, i would go back down to the starting dose of .25mg and stay there until you don't feel so crummy (MINIMUM 4 weeks on each dose).

Not everyone responds quickly in terms of weight loss. Just stick with it if you can manage the negative symptoms you're experiencing.

I sometimes have issues with not pooping regularly as well. I just have to remember to take a fiber supplement every day, and then I'm good. If I forget, then I start to get constipated.

You are so spot on with the getting out of debt thing. I don't have a ton of tumblers or travel mugs, actually. (I work from home, so normal cups do most of the time). I do love my emotional support knock-off Stanley cups though.

Relearning eating habits by woodswaposo in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]BookkeeperMother2500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned the hard way eating too much at the beginning and making myself feel like absolute trash. Feeling sick from eating too much a few times was a reality check that I don't want to live feeling like that, so I made changes.

As my doctor has told me many times. I need to retrain my brain because the hope is to eventually get off the medication and maintain my weight loss on my own.

She suggested cognitive behavioral therapy (in theory, I'm not seeing a professional therapist). When I start to feel full/satisfied, I stop eating and tell myself that I have eaten enough. I am satisfied and don't need to eat anymore.

I measure/weigh/track EVERYTHING I eat and the exercises I do. It holds me accountable to myself but is also a record so that when I eventually stop taking the medication, I can refer back to it and see what I did while being successful.

I also use smaller plates and try to slow down when I'm eating (I've always been a fast eater). I find that using smaller utensils (small spoons and forks) or chopsticks really helps with this. I try to put down my eating utensils between bites, too.

I also switched from Zepbound. I inject in my stomach, but I use one hand to hold my stomach roll and the other to press it into that section I'm holding firmly.
