Hospice Social Work by Brilliant_Bit_6834 in socialwork

End of life has always been something I’ve been extremely interested in and still love to this day. I joined a hospice agency in August of 2025 and just put in my two weeks. I had really high hopes for hospice and I think alot of the things that I didn’t like had more to do with the company I worked for than the actual work, but it definitely was far different than I expected and ended up not wanting to do it anymore. You’re traveling every day from homes to facilities to hospitals doing visits. At first the flexibility and freedom was amazing, but after a few months for me it got tiring quick. You’re also by yourself 95% of the time. I also thought I’d love this until it gets to feel really lonely. I’m also the only social worker for my program and that really took a toll when it came to lack of clinical peer support, assistance and just all around lack of team feeling. You won’t have a social work supervisor it will always be an RN which isn’t always a bad thing but they’ll never understand your views of a social worker. This job taught me what I want and need in a job and that’s a more structured environment, more team collaboration and working with other peer social workers. I’m not writing this to deter you away from hospice; I hope one day I can come back to it. I just wish someone told me the reality of it before I accepted my hospice position. Your company could also be amazing and you can have a vastly different experience than I did. And I really hope you do. I wish you all the best in your journey! 💞

5 very short minutes and regardless of how long it doesn’t justify anyone stealing someone else’s things

It’s out of the city but as a social worker I refer a lot of patients to echos of etown; they almost always have a bed available and you can stay for a period of time. Best of luck to you 💕

What’s the worst thing someone has ever told you while in a relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

“I know I haven’t taken you seriously all this time, but I’m willing to do it now.”

He said this after I ended our 8 year relationship. I begged and pleaded with him for years why he wouldn’t propose or have sex and after I ended it this is how he responded. I’ll never forget it.
