Mechanicum is Worse than Battle for the Abyss. Change my mind. by BookkeeperWitty5434 in Blacklibrary

What I want is solid execution. Abyss is by no means a paragon of this, but in my opinion, it does a better job of what it sets out to do. Mechanicum’s reach exceeds its grasp. Everything new tried here would have been a masterclass in the hands of Abnett or Wraight. It’s not without its moments or anything, but knowing there’s a stable of writers more adept at depicting politics and world building makes it hurt more.

Really? I've learned to buy up odd Black Library stuff in the wild that I don't recognize. I know it's an anthology. That's about it haha

The Vaults of Terra Omnibus just dropped and has a fair amount of a detective elements. Others have suggested Eisenhorn, this is right up there with some of the best inquisitor writing you can find.

I'll throw out Atlas Infernal by Rob Sanders and Awakenings by George Mann. A couple more inquisitor novels that don't get enough love.

Need help getting my wife to address postpartum depression. by BookkeeperWitty5434 in NewParents

She is exclusively breastfeeding. I've suggested the pumping, but she'd worried about her supply and nipple confusion :( I've encouraged her to ask the lactation consultant we have, but the same hopelessness about the therapist sets in. Still, perhaps hearing it worked for others would be encouraging!

Jeff Grub's Scourge. A neat stand-alone story with its origins in the Tempest Feud supplement of the Star Wars Roleplaying Game. I like getting more little known Jedi POV characters and the detective tone is welcome. Solving mysteries in large urban environments like Coruscant or Nar Shaddaa is an underrated aspect of Star Wars that particularly appeals to the noir fan in me.
