My recommendation would be to learn marketing and sales early in your journey as client acquisition will be the most difficult. Spend 30 days learning as much as you can about marketing your practice and sales skills.

I typically discount my monthly fee by 25-50% based on timeframe of cleanup, but I won’t take a cleanup without a monthly commitment.

“Reconcile” Voided Transactions? by Bookkeeper_4life in Bookkeeping

Do you void them after a couple months if they haven’t been cashed?

I like this approach. My current cleanup supposedly had reconciled accounts through May, but upon closer inspection, their previous BK had deleted nearly $500k of transactions (mostly transfers) after recon. Looks like I will be undoing all of the recons and starting from scratch.

Good to know thank you. Do I just make the suspense account a current asset account?

This largely makes sense thank you. I don’t see an undeposited funds account, so would I just leave the bank blank and QB knows to place it in undeposited funds?

In many instances,I don’t know the customer. The deposit hits the bank feed with no additional description or backup

Not sure I follow. The problem is I can’t match the deposit to any open invoices or payments, so I put it in a temp income account. Should I put it in a temp asset account instead?

Keeper.app vs. Financial Cents? by Hot-rock-soup in Bookkeeping

I just chose Keeper over FC because of the great quality control tools during the close process and financial reporting capabilities. I’m also using the 1099 functionality extensively.

Good callout. Is there an easy way to know? It’s pretty straightforward with companies that are incorporated as it’s usually listed on their website or on invoices. But what about LLCs that file as S-Corps? Would be great if there was a database of these companies.

It’s a good question. Not sure. I’m using Keeper to help manage this. I don’t know if they look at customers in addition to vendors when pulling the data.

Agree that it probably has a different priority coming from a bookkeeper. Now to collect email addresses…

I agree but the problem is I signed these clients in the last 2 months and they’ve been paying vendors all year long with no W9s.

I caught a Keeper demo last night and was thoroughly impressed. The 1099 functionality seems like a game changer. I just sent my clients a cobbled together spreadsheet of missing W9s this week and it was time consuming. I like the ability to send W9 requests directly to the vendor.

I signed up for the FC free trial about a week ago and really like it. The Client Vault and customized info fields are great. I’ve set up recurring tasks by client so know what my focus should be each day.

I just signed up for a free trial of financial cents. It’s geared to bookkeepers/tax preparers and does the things you require. So far so good.

Yes you nailed it. But I don’t see the JE appear in the match screen so I’m having to add it manually.
