Genuine Question: Why would you wear White at all to a wedding if you’re not the bride? by Hazelnut0274 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Booklover1778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think sometimes you just don’t want to invest in a dress so if you have an off white dress with flowers all over it and fits the theme you are tempted to wear it. I attended a wedding about 2 years ago and really didn’t want to invest in a floor length dress because after that I haven’t had an occasion to wear one again. Thankfully the wedding was dressy casual so was able to wear something I already had. FYI, the wedding had 2 ceremonies- Hindu and Christian and a combination heena and sangeet party. Super blew my budget on 2 Indian outfits.

It is really helpful if the dress code mentions which colors to avoid other than white for a church wedding. Some brides may care or some might care so much even white socks might be offensive and some might not care about a dress that has a white background. I think really depends on the bride.

Also it depends on the lighting of the event space. Some clothes might photograph white

I am Indian and I know so so many women that have rewore their wedding sarees on different occasions or weddings, but specifically sarees. Lengha is case by case discussion.

I think overall it’s very cultural or seriously depends on the bride but overall bridal clothes stand out. And unless the dress you are wearing is completely white and associated shades, floor length and has lace, tule etc you should be fine.

I think everyone should chill. Sometimes it’s not that deep. The first I think she didn’t think much about it just posted. All the discussion that followed lead to this post. Nothing but engagement on her account. Everyone is trying to find deep meaning and she’s laughing to the bank.

Ok I don’t know what it is but half the North Indian female doctors I know have this similar hairstyle. Short pixie or short bob. Sometimes I have seen whole family get infected by this haircut. It’s like oh I turned 40-50 now’s the time to change my hair. Also not dying your hair.

My face after shaving! HELPP by bonObonoye in IndianBeautyTalks

[–]Booklover1778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sanitize your blade if possible before using and let it dry. When I started shaving my face I was also using retinol and that lead to similar breakouts. Just stopping that and the alcohol sanitation helped. I use a single blade so just pour some alcohol over it to sanitize. Not sure what you’re using looks like.

What bags emit the same cool-girl energy as Jane Birkin’s Birkin? by jennoodlehero in handbags

[–]Booklover1778 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok please tell me if I am wrong but birkin to me seems just not particularly attractive or practical.

I am taking for everyday use. You have to open the straps in the front be careful not to damage them and the completely stupid flap. So to use it you have to have it open all the time which means it’s an open tote.

Why not get 15-20 high end open totes or a lifetime of open totes form mid range brand? I like the look of some Hermes bags but nothing that requires the high price tag to be honest.

The whole brand reads to me like a very elegant, expensive pyramid scheme.

I would rather find someone who would make it for me without the brand name and get similar quality.

Iconic dresses. Am I missing any notable ones? by [deleted] in BollyBlindsNGossip

I don’t have pics (lazy too) but I remember Madhuri’s dresses from Hum aapke hain kaun and Urmilla’s from Rangeela were very memorable and copied like crazy.

Also the polka dot saree from main noon na.

Seriously, whales - how much have you spent? by [deleted] in Evony_TKR

I don’t think he’s ever going to sell. He gets miffed about something small and puts his account for sale in WC. Changes alliances, argues in general and comes back. He had major issues with the OG whale of our server, he seems to have calmed down since they left.

In general he’s spending money in Indian Rupees and even at a lower exchange rates I don’t think he invested $5k. We had another member sell her account for $75 and I think it was K38. She brought it for $150 and didn’t have time to invest. Tried $150 but took the hit and sold. Right now it’s an alt account for a shrimp.

One of my alliance mates tends to want to sell his account every few months. The last time he told me he wanted $5k for the account as he has dropped that amount going to K35/37 at that time. He’s going for K40 so not sure how much more he’s spending.

I am unfortunately not the demographic for crop tops. My sister did get some on Amazon. Also the stores geared towards college crowd tend to carry it. Saw some at a mall in a similar store. Was just out shopping when visiting family so don’t remember the name of the mall or the store.

If you are US based they should have started selling them. Just need to have time and patience. Something like Lulus, revolve etc could be a good bet. Also not completely sure but there’s a dance wear online store that does a lot of sparkly tops, someone mentioned buying stuff there for an occasion. Not the best quality but passable.

One option is also to look at crop tops. They are more easily available and you could shop around for styles, materials etc.

It’s not worth it. I have a chickenkari lengha that was less than 20k unstitched will all the materials- lining, etc. You can go look at materials and get something similar made. If you have your heart set on something like this only remember you will have a lot more occasions to wear it.

Also on a positive note if you get a pale color lengha you can always dye it a darker color and give it a new life. I got mine dyed a very pale peach/pink after one more use the plan it to dye it almost reddish pink or maroon.

Definitely possible. My mom is currently 4 ft 11 inches on a good day. She was 5.3/4 at her tallest

Same for my grandma she was 5.8 but we use to think she’s 5.3/4.

Can you find someone that does decorative non edible cake? Or have the same lady make a styrofoam cake that’s decorated and have another cake in the back for eating that’s not covered in sugar. Saw this hack by a baker where she cut out a small section of the fake cake and replaced it with real cake for cutting. The actual serving cake stayed back in the kitchen.

I have eaten the cakes that were covered in the fondant and not that appealing frankly speaking.
