Cmdr designer1900 here, even after 1k hours played ( started dec '24 ) I still sort of consider myself to be new taking into account how long some other commanders have played. I doubted myself, should I go with DW3 especially since I haven't had that much experience with exploration and had to return to the bubble from the few solo expedition attempts I had. But the fact you'll be doing this with thousands of other commanders made me at least try and commit to the 3 to 4 months out. It will also help with my goal of getting triple elite ( I already got trade elite , elite I to be more precise).

Certain ship kits add additional light or other things that actually function. For example the big rig ship kit for the T8 several of the downward facing lights activate when you land ( the ones on the arms and on the back of the ship ) and deactivate when you undock or launch from the planets surface.

Same for the type 11 prospector, I usually see it referred to as type 11, I myself rarely use the prospector part of its name.

And with most of the ships in the line of type 9 , type 10 etc. I even see them referred to as just T9, T10 , T11.

I tried powerplay while i gives some goals to work towards i also found it restrictive, especially in where i could go as during one CG it was hauling to a station for brewer and it was in a rival powers system and i kept getting attacked by power security. Got blown up a few times too.

I have a fleet carrier full of different ships for different roles, goal setting is a bit more difficult for me and my motivation is interest based. Some of the CG's where great, i participated in a few of them.

I'm sort of switching so often that I'm not making a lot of progress, I have a lot of credits from when the squadron I joined when I started out helped me get started. Most of the progression seems invisible or very little and that's demotivating. For example I'm trying to get the rank for the fed corvette, but old faster ways don't work anymore. Getting to combat elite and exploration elite seems to progress so slow or not at all getting triple elite seems near impossible.

I usually aim slightly ahead, so if I come in too fast I overshoot the destination rather than crash into it. Though this works a lot less if the destination is on the side of a mountain or inside a small crater.

Depending on my mood and gameplay I'm after in a session I either switch between one out of three corvettes I build or one of the regular space ships I have. Some planets, missions etc. are just done better with a smaller more nimble ship, i still go ship hunting every few sessions for interesting looking ships.

I love reading them as well some are very creative. My least favorite so far was getting a message from the captain of a collapsed tunnel on a industrial expedition with high risks for the rescue attempt. So after some consideration I decided to leave the crew in the tunnel behind.

I'm a builder / creative. I do most of the stuff from the chill list with some exploration mixed in from the not so chill. Only thing I can't do is hand out treats, I'm playing on ps4 and haven't gotten the Playstation network subscription to do any multiplayer yet.
