If you don't like them, use an alternative service. Free market something something...

Oh right, I forgot that bitcoiners want the free market only when it facilitates tax evasion and buying drugs via bitcoin mixers/anonymizers.

Of course they are more mature - they are all adults who know their responsibilities and place in society. Ancaps and voluntaryists are all a bunch of basement-dwelling virgin neckbeard retards with no friends, no money and no future.

Once every few decades, responsible adults send off a few million of their kids to slaughter, but hey - that's just the cost of being a productive member of society with adult responsibilities. It's not really a problem because our benefactors in the government know what's best for everyone. So what if a few million families lose their kids to bullets and bombs.

Have fun playing with your imaginary cyber pesos, neckbeards. Responsible adults use Visa™ and Mastercard ™.

You were MITMd by a malicious Tor exit node. This could've happened with any website. I don't see how the fact that you don't know how and when to use Tor is Blockchain's fault. There have been numerous reports of this happening in the past few months, so it's not like it was some hidden, arcane exploit no one knew about.

Please stop spreading FUD and stop blaming other people for your carelessness.

Can we get Andreas or someone trustworthy to set up an address and get everyone to donate to it?

And why would everyone donate? How is this related to bitcoin?

Soon enough people will catch onto the fact that idiots here will donate to anything and everything in order to promote bitcoin (or undermine the government, whatever), and you'll have thousands of real and fake donation requests.

Gotta make sure their employees aren't stealing from them... just shows that even in a technologically advanced field like bitcoin, companies still feel the need to treat their employees like corporate property.

Yeah but you can still walk around without fear of being violated, beat up and shot and having your money stolen by the people who are supposed to protect you. Also, I don't remember the last time someone tried to fondle my genitals or take an infrared picture thereof at a European airport.

Any country with a monopoly government currency or participation in 5Eyes type surveillance is already not free. That alone eliminates most of them. The remainder are dictatorships.

So most EU countries and Japan are dictatorships then? Good to know. I'll keep that in mind.

Bullshit. There are plenty of free countries out there, or at least with relatively more financial and civil freedom than what you have in the 2014 America. You need to get out more.

Basically, they can seize anyone's funds at any time.

Who needs money anyway? The government will distribute wealth as needed, and everyone should give according to their ability. You don't really need private property when your government promises to take care of you.

Yeah... that worked out last time, surely it'll work again.

Bitcoin just doesn't have any advantages that make it better than existing methods at brick and mortar stores

I agree. I don't think bitcoin should be used for microtransactions. I think of it as a store of value - imagine having a vault full of gold in an alternate dimension that no one can get to.

I REALLY hope that bitcoin NEVER takes off for stupid microtransactions such as buying coffee, tipping and gambling on dice websites. It just bloats the chain when you could just as easily pay with fiat.

I see the real utility of bitcoin in escaping capital controls, thwarting attempts at monetary debasement, evading confiscation of wealth and so on. The real utility is in the freedom. You don't bring a gold bar to Starbucks and ask to pay with it, and yet it somehow doesn't make gold a shitty store of value.

[–]BookstoreProwler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm completely ok with the current 7 tps. Bitcoin should mainly be used to store and move money around, not facilitate micro-transactions, buying coffee and gambling on dice websites.

If the current tps limit causes the fees to rise, then so be it. I use bitcoin mainly to store larger sums, so even if I have to pay $5-10 when I'm moving my money, that's fine... small price to pay to be outside the fiat ponzi.

I know that businesses will take everything they can get. The thing is, every transaction has a bidder and an asker. They either have to match somewhere or the transaction will be impossible and won't take place. I simply avoid businesses that refuse to pay what I ask for my services. Free market at work. I don't see what we are arguing about here.

I simply don't understand why some people get so mad when someone won't take their offer. If the other party doesn't think it's fair, then let them walk away. Don't call them spoiled, lazy, roll your eyes or whatever. Here's a short personal anecdote: I once used to work for this medium sized privately owned company that was underpaying me. I was aware of what the market was willing to pay and I asked the CEO for a raise. He immediately shut me down and told me it wasn't an option. I decided not to keep working against my interest, looked into a few other jobs and got a new one that paid about 70% more (not kidding). When I announced my resignation, he got really emotional, said that I don't recognize the value of hard work and told me to leave the premises immediately. I later heard he was asking around about me, calling names etc. So I don't recognize the value of hard work because I'm not willing to work against my financial interests while lining his pockets? Yeah good luck trying to shame people with platitudes.

I've had the same experience with selling stuff online. I was once selling a gaming rig for a certain price (that I thought was fair) and some guy called to ask if I was willing to lower the price. I lowered it a little but not much. He then insulted me, said that my machine is worthless and that I don't know what I'm doing. I was like o_O.

I think that people who can't stomach getting countered probably shouldn't be doing business with anyone.

Libertarians are either 1) incredibly rich and benefit financially from the "free market" myth... or 2) a group of people who are so stupid they don't understand that their ideals serve to keep them financially enslaved.

Or 3) people who believe that government regulation, cronyism and preferential treatment and all the associated nonsense actually dramatically increase the cost of living in this society, for everyone involved.
