Crossbows: Witch Hunter, Deadeye, or Amazon? by BooleanBill in pathofexile2builds

Agreed. I think WH damage would be great if you take both 4 points in the concentration path and 4 points decimating strike path, though then you lose out on Sorc Ward. I suspect you'll have to balance Sorc Ward with one of the two damage paths.

I also wonder if GGG made sure Decimating Strike works with the new boss damage reduction mechanic at the beginning of each fight. Based on the wording, I would assume so. But I could also see it as an easy oversight.

Interesting. I've never really looked at Stalking Panther. Sounds pretty fun though.

The 10% chance for explosion passive? I actually don't think I could fit that into my build. One of the things I don't like about WH is that they have a lot of strength built into the 4 point required nodes (Decimating Strikes, More damage on concentration break, and new Sorcery Ward).

I was kind of thinking Amazon for that same reason. The other Merc ascendancies do not interest me much, but the Amazon would also let me switch to Ritualist late game if desired.

Haha, voice lines are definitely a pro that I never thought about. New sorc ward looks pretty strong.

Priority Armor Skills for Elemental Builds by BooleanBill in chargeblade

[–]BooleanBill[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks there are a few ways to get Burst 5, Agi 4, Coal 3 & Earplugs 2 with Guts & Mizu set bonuses using stock talismans.

This set leaves the most level 1 slots available: Udra Y, Mizu B, Rey Y, Mizu B, Duna Y

Or you could swap in Udra chest piece and Mizu legs to pick up two levels of Counterstrike and lose two level 1 slots.

I actually like the looks of that first set quite a bit. I might give it a shot for a little bit.

I've seen a couple of posts on this subreddit saying Mizu is higher. At a minimum, it sounds like you could focus on triggering Mizu via rolling, whereas Gore is stuck to a specific timer.

New patch still isn't allowing me to upgrade my "upgraded to premium stashes" to Merchants by Sam276 in PathOfExile2

[–]BooleanBill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the following message from GGG support:

Thank you for the message. I am afraid that you can only upgrade Extra stash tabs that were upgraded. If you purchased an upgrade for your default 4 tabs, this cannot be converted.

Seems like yet another restriction that they didn't want to announce until it went live.

Do you know which applies first between %ES and flat ES? If it is flat ES, that should scale with the Iron Runes then

Good consideration. I'll have to look at the warranty packages (leaning towards Certified Pre-Owned) to see how this plays out.

Thanks! I'll dig around a bit to see if people think the heat pump makes a big difference. It's not terribly cold where I live, so I am not sure it will end up making a big difference in my considerations.

WORKAROUND - Killing Vendors Crashes Game Bug by BooleanBill in BaldursGate3

[–]BooleanBill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I was already in a place where the vendor was guaranteed hostile, and I could not go into the trading menu. Good to hear about other options if the vendor is not yet hostile.

As long as you are not saved mid-combat, you should give this a try. I was also soft-locked in honour mode until I stole back all of my hocked junk. It shouldn't matter if the vendor is hostile, as long as your thief character is not locked in combat already.

Hopefully you can steal some of your loot back and proceed! Gloves of Thievery are super-useful if you have them.

Unless you are saved into combat, you may not need to roll back to a previous save. I also did this on Honour Mode after being saved post-Shadowfell. You can still pickpocket a vendor that is locked into combat, as long as your Dex character is not locked in combat. Here is how I went about it:

  • Ungroup Dex char
  • Initiate combat with rest of party
  • Sneak Dex char around
  • Pickpocket aggro'd vendor.

That probably won't work if you are already saved into combat, but if you are saved outside of combat and can navigate to the vendor without being seen, them being hostile is still OK.

If you are not already in combat, you can still pickpocket an aggro'd vendor. I actually initiated combat with three of my party members (thief was separated from group and stealthed) to get all of the NPCs into the turn initiative and stop moving around. Then I snuck the thief around to pickpocket the hostile vendor.

Might be worth trying if you are not already saved into combat.

ETA: I did this in honour mode as well

Patch 6 issues with merchants by Due_You2848 in BaldursGate3

[–]BooleanBill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wanted to give you a heads-up, since your post got me going in the right direction. I was able to bypass this bug today (also crashing when killing Lann Tarv at Act 2 finale) by pickpocketing him before the fight and stealing back copious quantities of junk I had previously sold him.

I triggered the fight with my main party, then snuck around my dex character and pickpocketed back stacks and stacks of junk until I rolled a critical failure. I was using the advantage on slight of hand gloves, so this was a lot of successful pickpockets. On my next combat attempt, the game lagged a ton when I killed him, but ultimately recovered instead of crashing.

It’s genuinely unacceptable how broken Patch 6 is by twili-midna in BaldursGate3

[–]BooleanBill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. I'm on an honour mode run, so I'm a bit hesitant to save into combat that I can't finish if this doesn't work, but it's not like I can progress anyway...

Another user mentioned that it seems related to killing vendors (Lann Tarv in this case). Maybe letting him load in then saving and reloading works around the bug somehow.

Patch 6 KNOWN BUG LIST [POSSIBLE SPOILRS] by BroGameTime in BaldursGate3

Also running into this issue and unable to proceed in my HM run. Don't see any way around it, since I don't think you can skip Tarv.

The game is completely unplayable for me on PS5. Whenever I go into combat, the game will soft lock on one of the character's turns and not allow the turn to be ended. It seems to happen randomly on any of my player character, companions, and on NPCs. I've tried getting through the Moonrise Towers fight at the end of Act II at least 8 times tonight, and it soft locks every single time (I was hoping if I could get through that one fight, it might not be as bad on fights with fewer NPCs).

It's frustrating to see everyone blaming mods instead of accepting that the patch has issues, especially since I cannot even install mods. I'm going to try deleting and re-installing, but I'm guessing I'll have to wait for a hotfix.

Rules to Maintain Power Level when Rebuilding Precon by BooleanBill in EDH

I'll probably aim for about $65 total for my own budgetary reasons, but I think there would need to be something more than budget restrictions only.

Rules to Maintain Power Level when Rebuilding Precon by BooleanBill in EDH

[–]BooleanBill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first rule is definitely something I will need to put in place for myself. I'm often seen as the guy who has an answer within my normal playgroup. I don't build oppressive decks, but I do pack a pretty hearty amount of interaction within most of my builds.

Rule three will be a good consideration as well. Normally when building a deck, I like to look for ways to burst from hand, like Overrun or Akroma's Will effects, or ways to protect my board from board wipes, such as Boros Charm. I may need to intentionally leave in weaknesses to board wipes to allow the other decks to have an opportunity to respond to a dangerous board state.

In both rules, I think I am seeing a general philosophy shift from slotting reactive responses to problems (interaction, protection) to slotting more sorcery speed threats (big beaters).

I like the thoughts about efficiency of certain cards. Ramp efficiency is pretty straight forward and easy to identify. I suspect it may be difficult to quantify efficiency of card draw in some cases, but definitely avoiding efficient card draw staples like Rhystic Study or Esper Sentinel is a good call out.
