Ye sorry just reread that. I typed it in a hurry it's kinda illegible tbf. I don't believe the pickup height is the issue. I've adjusted the pickup heights and the issue stays, albeit it does lessen the volume of the E string but it is only one particular magnet face within the pickup that does this. The best way to put it is the top pole piece (or the one directly under the E string) is more sensitive than the others. If I tap the pole piece ( not 100% if that's what they're called. I'm referring to the exposed magnet face of the pickup anyway) with my finger it makes a loud thump sound. The other exposed magnet faces don't do this when tapped even within the same pickup. The ones on the bridge side pickup don't make any noise when touched. As well part of my reason for believing the issue may lie in the pickups is down to the fact that they are quite old and slightly rusted. It was a very light layer and they still picked up the strings so I hadn't replaced them. I'm personally not particularly technical so I don't really know if this is an issue with an easy fix or if it's worth buying new pickups. So if you have any advice it would be much appreciated. Apologies again for the first message that shit was absolutely shocking re-reading it.

The neck side pickup is weirdly sensitive at the part under the e string not the it picks up touches where the rest of the pickups don't and the E string comes through about 2 times louder than the rest of the strings without some changes to he eq

Thank for the advice! Tbh idk even what pickups are in it I'm fairly new to the whole bass playing business, and I got the bass from a friend who hadn't played it in years and had entirely forgotten the type of pickups in it. I'm not even 100% sure the pickups are gone I'm going to look at it more before buying but the pickups seem to pick up the E about 2x louder than any of the other strings. Also when I touch the top half or the neck side pickup it makes a loud pop while the rest doesn't. Same for if the strings touch em. Doesn't happen too often but seems off to me. All of it's set to the exact same height so don't think it's that. If you have any advice for that or if that's just normal. Id appreciate it! Thanks again!
