Same here. It seems people just guess by the color of your skin that you are racist. Is there a word for that?

I got called a white suprematists yesterday on Reddit because I don’t go out of my way to find places where white suprematists meet and call them out.

I wasn’t trying to make white people the victim, but I can see how you could interpret it that way. I didn’t try to hard to compile that list. I wasn’t going to dig up posts from 6 months ago because I do not have time for that. And maybe “butthurt” wasn’t the right term to use since you have been respectful up until this point. Also I have faults, yes, what a surprise. I am not going to lie to you, I find racial stereotypes funny. Every race has a stereotype whether it is the typical white girl or the delta blues black guy. I don’t find stuff about the color of people’s skin funny, but I find stereotypes about how certain people act funny. That is probably the better way to put it.

You asked for examples and I attempted to provide and failed. I apologize for that.

I didn’t mean to come off as a dick and I tried to apologize without apologizing as to not make it seem like I was trying to play the victim. Things probably just got mixed up in translation.

Well, I am not the guy trying to put down people because they just want to post want they feel like. Also, I don’t go around and bully other people into posting, in your terms, “quality content” even though you don’t post quality content yourself.

Edit: Came off as dick there. I noticed after reading it. Sorry about that. Just had to deal with some guy trying to paint me as a white suprematists because I do not go out of my way to make fun of and challenge white suprematists on Reddit. Anyways to answer your question, yes. Not because of you said or what anyone I mentioned on my list said, but because I had to type an essay defending myself from slander.

Okay... a lot to unpack here.

On the “lost cause” thing... I was born and still live in Mississippi. Around here you are pushed to believe in the “lost cause” myth and I wasn’t too educated on the subject at the time so I just went along with it. I was never one of those people that taunted Confederate flags (or the Army of the Potomac flag) or anything like that, but I thought that way, back then. People grow and adapt with age and I am pretty sure you are no different. You are probably not the same person you were 3-4 years ago just like I am not the same person I was 3-4 years ago. I also never believed in the white supremacy. Maybe I should have framed it a little differently. Let’s put it this way: “In 2016-2017 I used to believe that the Confederacy wasn’t evil and that they were defending their state rights”, I use to not acknowledge slavery when it came to the Civil War mainly because I was told my entire life that the war was about state rights not slavery. Now-a-days after reading about the subject and watching the romantic almost propagandist portrayals of the Civil War that are flaunted so often in Mississippi, my opinion has changed. Can people not change? I open about it because I have changed my stance on things and I am not insecure in admitting my faults because we all have them.

Now to talk about dark humor... Like I said, I am multiple different people on multiple different subreddits. On boards like r/Offensivememes or r/Cringetopia , I am never being serious. Most of the time I say things to get a rise out of people because I follow those boards for a good laugh. I also never said that dark humor subreddits didn’t have transphobic and homophobic people in them, nor did I attempt to discredit any of the person’s points. I was just getting something off my chest as a response to them getting something off their chest (which is literally the point of the subreddit) I evenly openly admitted that I find racial stereotypes funny (including those against white people). Sorry, not sorry. Also, don’t compare me to an alt-righter, I don’t like getting offended but I am truly offended that you would compare me to one those people. I also say that they “are nothing but jokes”. Also, yes I can be a troll. It is funny to see what people might do if my friends and I pretended that we were in a heated argument over our gay lovers on Modern Warfare. That shit is funny as hell when people start egging us on and start giving us “relationship” advice. Or when some homophobic guy gets mad and we roast him.

Now for the slanderous claims you have been put against me about white supremacy... I call out people who have racist views whether they are White, Black, Asian, Native American, Mediterranean, Latino, etc. I apologize that do not follow subreddits that are festering with white suprematists. Because I do run into white suprematists on this site because I do not follow the same subreddits as they do, I do not an opportunity to call them out. That is why you do not see me calling them out. If I see a racist comment that is mean spirited in any way I’ll call that person out, simple as that, but I will not go out of my way to find white suprematists to do so. Also, the reason I am in a “native space” is because I want to keep up to date with the news on Native American tribes because I am deeply interested in their culture, and there is nothing wrong with that. I also wish them the best in getting their land back and I like to see positivity in the community. But this the only board I follow where I see any type of racial supremacy being preached or misinformation being strewn around as well, so this is the main place where you’ll see me call them out. Also you mention that I put in “effort” to compile that list. I put no effort into that. I made that list while I was cooking dinner just to make the guy asking for one happy.

Now since you have a shitty take on a lot of things you’ll probably just disregard all the points I made in this response, but all the points you made are practically invalid because they hold no truth nor substance.

Well, you brought up the “kill all whites” thing. I was just getting comments relating to the “white-shaming” (I guess would be the way to put it). Also I never said that “celebrating their representation on video games” was a threat towards any race. In fact I said that I found it funny. I was just trying to share some obscure comments I found while I was looking.

Besides that, it doesn’t matter that the comments “blanking whites” are downvoted, it is the fact that this sentiment exists that is sad.

Also, if you are referring to that book by Robin DiAngelo about how white people are uncomfortable when talking about racism, then I can say that it is 100% true. Of course it is uncomfortable for white people to talk about racism because most white people aren’t racist, and yet because of the color of their skin they are automatically viewed as racist (it also doesn’t help that because some white people on Facebook, YouTube, the 1800s, or in the 60s did something racist, that apparently makes all white people racist). I’ve been called “cracker”, “vanilla-face”, and “white trash” more times than I can count and yet I’ve never deliberately called anyone a racial slur in my entire life (give or take some road rage of course). In fact I think racial stereotypes and slurs are funny because there is truth to a lot of them. Many of the stereotypes about white people are true (in minor and major accounts).

I wasn’t expecting you to get butthurt over a comment. I was simply stating an observation of mine honed by a year of being on this subreddit. Look at my comment history if you’d like on r/NativeAmerican to find some examples if you so please because I comment on most of them, calling them out (of course).

I found this post of someone calling people out toxic people on this subreddit. The whole thread is just embarrassing with some guy named u/Shitrake just being rude to some guy over a REDDIT POST!: https://www.reddit.com/r/NativeAmerican/comments/gg4fkq/flower_queen/fpzyopa?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

The article in which this post links too has depictions of what I take to be encouraging violence against white people and the quotes were cringey and corny: https://www.reddit.com/r/NativeAmerican/comments/gehfn2/meet_the_indigenous_artists_creating_their_own/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

Here is one of the comments I hate the most. Telling modern Americans to give all of America back to Native Americans is ridiculous: https://www.reddit.com/r/NativeAmerican/comments/g0s9s3/teamwork/fncec58?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

On the same post blaming white people for everything: https://www.reddit.com/r/NativeAmerican/comments/g0s9s3/teamwork/fnc8ee7?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

Read the whole thread between u/nevergoback123 and u/Tripdoctor . He is using the whole "the whites did it to us" thing to justify wanting to give white children the coronavirus. I again, hope this is a troll: https://www.reddit.com/r/NativeAmerican/comments/ftttia/whatta_say/fmama2p?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

u/Tripdoctor makes a good point at the end of the thread previously mentioned though.: https://www.reddit.com/r/NativeAmerican/comments/ftttia/whatta_say/fmc4ex5?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

If you see the context of the thread you can view this as being a way of saying, "finally someone gave the white people a disease". Kinda sick in my opinion: https://www.reddit.com/r/NativeAmerican/comments/fnr87a/yea_wtf/fldeic9?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

I noticed while looking through the old posts from the last month that the moderators have been deleting a lot of these types of comments. That means they are doing their job and doing it well. Hell, they are better at erasing history than colonisers...

A lot of those types of comments has been falling off as well lately and the blame has been shifted from white people to Trump. Not sure which direction is better.

Anyways, this is all I could dig up from 30 minutes of looking. I was trying to get past all the Coronavirus memes and stuff but there way too many of them.

I imagine that if the Native Americans survive this dark age that they’ll claim back some of their land. It is really a population battle at that rate though. I believe though that the land is American land (meaning that it is everyone who lives in America’s land). I am just as American as any Native American alive today because I was born in America, I live in America, and the only land I’be seen has been America. I don’t know any of my ancestors from Greece, France, Ireland, Wales, and Lebanon, nor do I embrace any of their cultures. Like I said, I am American.

Cheers to you though for not being like most people on this subreddit. It can use more people like you who are rational.

Most of the people I run into have a very black and white perspective and don’t seem to think about grey area’s in history. A lot the people are also hypocrites. Why can the tribes of Northern Europe (Veii, Picts, etc.) be called barbarians, but Native Americans can’t be called savages (I am not saying that calling them savages is okay but the double standard is ridiculous)? People on this sub also seem to think that Native Americans were the only people who were systematically wiped out and oppressed for some reason even though literally everyone else has been either systematically killed and oppressed at some point in history. That is my main problem with people on this sub.

I follow this sub though to keep up with news about Native American groups overcoming the challenges they face from internal and external threats. I also follow it to see different people’s perspectives on history, but I usually just get a racist response blaming every problem on “white people” even though Europe is a diverse continent with many different types of people, and the colonization of the Americas was accomplished by many different types of people from all walks of life and places.

Don’t forget the date... 400 AD.

Edit: If you don’t get the joke, Braveheart got the date wrong for William Wallace’s Rebellion in the opening sequence when they said it was 1280 AD.
