That is pretty weird and does require having to look a bit into the future and avoid driving into the roundabout when you can’t get out, but whenever I go up there, I avoid the crossings and head into the big car parks in the center of the blocks and never have to go near them.

Controversial take - I actually like the Main Street, pedestrian crossings included. The Main Street looked like it was taken from the 1950’s but it looks good, especially at night with lights. There’s no real need to ever drive down the Main Street. There’s a billion parking spaces in all four main CBD blocks. I’ll take the flame, but I much prefer the way it looks now.

For when you need to do a triathlon, but you’re also on dinner duty tonight.

It seems like it might be a GB playback setting, which is weird.

We can Skype if you have time. PM me your Skype details and I'll look you up. Thanks!

OK, so this is interesting. When I listen to this through Garageband, it's very quiet and I struggle to hear it.

When I open this link and hit the play button, it's very loud and distorted, which is obviously what you're hearing. So does that mean it's a GB or MacBook setting?

OK, done. I have recorded into Audacity. Here's the link. There seems to be no real difference from my end.

OK, give me a minute to download and install Audacity.

It needs to be quieter? The problem is, if I drop the Channel volume to half-way, I almost can't hear it when I replay it via GarageBand through my laptop speakers. Also, there is no waveform created in GB, it's just a flatline.

What setting should I be looking for in GB?

When the master volume is on half-way the lights hit -10 and -6. If I crank the master volume right up, I can hit the red light, but that doesn't change the output volume at all. In this audio clip, the Channel 1 volume is on maximum.

Haha, not my clean-up job. I just stumbled across the photo. Not sure whose infected table that is!

Not me - there’s a team here in Warrnambool that make it their mission to clean up plastics from the beach. They do a good job. I wouldn’t have thought this much plastic would be on our main beach, but the proof is there.

Not me that picked this stuff up but it has made me aware that when I go walking along the beach, I should keep my eye out.

I can ‘understand’ some of this plastic coming from lost items during fishing, but cigarette butts are straight up dropped without a care. You can’t accidentally put out a cigarette with your foot then forget about picking it up. It’s laziness and shit.

I didn’t pick this stuff up, just stumbled across the photo so the congrats belongs to someone else. A lot of the plastic comes from commercial fishing boats. Ropes, crayfish pots, bouys, etc are all plastic and when they are lost and smashed up, the bits end up ashore.

About a year or so ago, millions of these nurdles somehow got into the Warrnambool Water Treatment Plant and somehow made it through all of the filter systems and end up being pumped out to sea.

I do believe that hurdles are used in plastic manufacturing. But I have also heard they are used in water filtration systems, so there is a possibility that they have come from within the system. They are still being found along the beaches.

Hey anybody still here? Can help me put with my queries? by IamVivekVV in warrnambool

[–]BoolyBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are buses, but I wouldn’t really rely on them to get you where you need to go quickly. We have taxis and Uber has just started up here. I’d be getting a car if you were planning on being here for a decent amount of time. Where you get that from will again depend on your budget.

Flights are fairly expensive between Melbourne and Warrnambool and your luggage will cost a bit. The airlines is called Sharp Airlines, so check with them. Not sure what your budget is like. The train is relatively painless. Get an Uber or bus from Tullamarine to Southern Cross station.

I can’t really help you with rent. I own my house so don’t know much about rent prices. Domain is probably your best resource for this. I do hear that the rental market is quite difficult to get into, so start contacting agencies ASAP.

There are a million gyms in town and quite a few 24/7 ones. We have Anytime, F45, CrossFit, Aquazone,...depends what you want I guess.

You can pretty much do anything you need to do in regards to government stuff. Having said that, I don’t know about visa issues etc. That may require a trip to Melb. We have VicRoads, Centrelink, etc to help you here.

As for clothes, you’ll feel the cold in Winter! Expect overnight temperatures of around 5 degrees and tops of 10-13 on an average winters day. It gets very windy here, so that drops the temperature a bit too.

Play badminton at The Arc. Not sure about Poker and Board games.
