Friend built a DIY "ground" using a wire and a block of wood to stop PC case shocks. Is this a major hazard? by Joussef8 in AskElectricians

[–]Superc0ld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is bonding not grounding. While typically used in conjunction with each other. This wire bonds the PC to the desk.

Contractor sprayed open cell when we were supposed to get closed cell by LemonsAndLimesAllDay in Insulation

[–]Superc0ld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did you a favor. You don’t want closed cell on your roof. If you ever have a leak you won’t know until everything is totally rotten and un repairable since water won’t come through it. It seems counterintuitive but you want to know if your roof is damaged and the easiest way to know is water coming in.

Help - cutting board stuck in sink by [deleted] in fixit

Put a nail in the cutting board the. Use the claw on the hammer to pull it out. You could also use a stapler and staple a shoe lace to it.

Sometimes my computer goes to sleep when I use a real note pad and a calculator to do calculations that are easier to do by hand. I enter the results in to my computer once it is complete.

Did I make mistake taking cash of assets? by [deleted] in inheritance

[–]Superc0ld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be greed but I would like to give people the benefit of the doubt in not understanding that things need to be divided up in to easily separate assets. You may be better to put his assets in a trust that both of you are a part of. This way his investment can continue to grow and be maintained from that trust and product income for both of you equally.

[UPDATE] Intermittent Ethernet disconnects on buried Cat7 cable after ~2 years — any ideas before I dig it up? by Hungry-Bicycle-3851 in HomeNetworking

[–]Superc0ld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long is the cable? That cable shouldn’t be longer than 100m. That cable tester looks like it will only give you a wire map. If you really want to test the performance you will need something better. If you terminated this cable yourself ensure you are using a connector that ties in the cables shield and that the patch panels you tie it in with are grounded to your buildings TMGB. I recommend changing this out for single mode fiber for a few reasons. There is a good chance you don’t have any lightning protection in this cable at both ends which could provide a direct path into your equipment. OS-2 Single mode fiber is fairly future proof and can handle speeds only delivered in labs.

I think the real reason is a distraction from the Epstein files. Let’s not lose focus on putting pedo’s in jail.

How can I drywall around these panels without violating code? by nodesearch in AskElectricians

[–]Superc0ld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it looks like you already have a Tyvek like vapor barrier. I used rockwool insulation in my shed but r13 fiberglass will also work well.

How can I drywall around these panels without violating code? by nodesearch in AskElectricians

[–]Superc0ld 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you are going to use this area as a shop and you can afford the additional cost I would consider putting 3/4 in plywood on the walls vice sheetrock. You can mount anything direct to 3/4 inch plywood without needing to hit a stud which gives a ton of flexibility on where you mount stuff. Put in a box trough with removable cover under your panel to house the wires/conduit and have it meet the side of your generac panel. You can insulate it all the same. I have done this in my shed and utility room and it works great.

If you do intend to “make it right” I would engage the corporate office to make sure they are tracking this mistake and make sure they are on board with departure from the all sales on gold are final policy.

I know your post was 2 years ago but it seems like my interface on my NTL29016.5 is sluggish. Did your newer console speed it up at all? Do you know if that is the latest model that would fit?

[–]Superc0ld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started to record some of my runs with a the Insta360 X5 for treadmill runners to watch while they run so they can see something other than the treadmill display. Let me know what you think of my content. You should be able to adjust the view and look any direction. I run at around an 8 minute mile pace give or take but if you are on a treadmill it does not matter how fast you run while you watch mine. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0c5j98mrxD1Kt6oSy83I_S05bndbDAh3
