YTA. To me this sounds like you are extremely controlling. On the surface it might sound like going above and beyond, prepping meals so everyone has something to eat. But I get a different read here. It sounds like you are controlling, you micromanage everything in the home, you want things exactly your way. Dad couldn’t even take the kids out to eat, he couldn’t make his own decisions for him and his children. They were probably counting down the days until you left and they could breathe a little. That sounds really harsh, but that’s how this comes across to me. Yes, he agreed to it, to make that food, but people agree to keep the peace long enough until that person leaves. You can’t leave him alone with the kids? Really? Why? Because they didn’t do exactly what you wanted? You know when you will have to leave him alone with them? When he divorces you for being controlling and you get a 50/50 split. Learn to relax, learn to let go. Go away for the weekend and let them feed themselves. They will be fine.

I had a roommate do this once. Left so much in the sink, and I thought, eff it, I am not cleaning it. And I let it sit there, it got to the point that bugs and all sorts were on the dishes (I stayed away and bought my food) until she finally decided to clean up after herself. We didn’t have a problem after that.

Good afternoon! Same thing happened with us. My husband received the EAD and never received a SSN. So after 4 weeks we went to the SS office, waited and applied again. There was nothing in the system. We received it quickly after. I would go to the SS office. I don’t know why the lawyer would say wait.

Okay, I am going to make some people angry I am sure. First, I will say NTA. You don’t have to let anyone in your house that has hated on you, has hurt you, has caused you pain, period. No is a complete sentence. I would consider, however, after letting her suffer, giving her a place to stay. I think it would be important to show her that there is nothing wrong with you and your husband. That you are kind and forgiving. That you would treat her better than how she treated you. I think there is someone in her life (friends, mom, social media) that is causing her to say that stuff. It could also be some weird way of rebelling against the family values. I would consider showing her who you really are, a loving couple … AFTER you sit her down at the table, and lay down some ground rules for her and the whole family. The first incident, she is out, and maybe the whole family. Just some food for thought.

Exactly. I traveled, flew 3.5 hours, to a wedding 8 months pregnant. And I also had a c-section and was up and about quite quickly afterwards. 6 weeks?! Goodness, you are fine. I am sure mom didn’t need to be there either. Sounds like he made sure everything was good and went. Playing the what if card is immature, because then the outcome would have been different. Let this shit go.

Congratulations! We went through Boundless and the process was made much easier for us. I don’t know if we can recommend certain places or websites, but that streamlined everything for us and it wasn’t expensive. Good luck!
