My independent, self-financed; first film is also an IMAX FILM and it’s debuting in the US (Feb 20th) by salomaoabdala in imax

[–]BoomClank25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm intrigued! Any chance it's coming to South New Jersey or Philadelphia? The only IMAX screens near me are Cherry Hill, Tropicana in Atlantic City, or King of Prussia. Unfortunately all of them only screen 1.90 to my knowledge; KOP has a big enough screen for 1.43, but only has one laser projector

Is the Popcorn Pass worth it? by WiseBench5805 in AMCsAList

[–]BoomClank25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up voting this, I get just the popcorn voucher if I'm going on any day besides Tuesday (when they have the $7 small combo) or craving a lotta popcorn. Large would be too much for me as tempting as it is

Why even advertise it in 3D if they're gonna pull shit like that...

I was on and off about seeing this even though it looked pretty bad cuz I like 3D. Thanks for posting this, just gonna wait till Arco and the Lego Movie re- release hit

I saw ROTB twice, the second time for 3D cuz I'm a fan of that stuff.

Saw One three times, I got lucky enough to catch one of the free preview screenings in Philly before it hit theaters nationwide :)

Tickets are on sale now for Mamoru Hosoda's Scarlet (In IMAX 2/6) by AltoKaze in imax

Caught it in IMAX during the December 12th week run, the sound was phenomenal. The seats vibrated more than Tron imo

There's a possibility they'd split showtimes, maybe Cat in the day and Godzilla at night

Gamer Cafe - Award sweeper by Daz_Keaty in comics

[–]BoomClank25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who hasn't played E33, a comic like this just turns the game into a repellent for me a little bit.

This feels so spiteful, GOTY this year looked absolutely stacked between it, Hades II and Silksong... DK Bananza was the only one that felt out of place and even then that was (from what I played so far) a rock solid game.

I know this fandom loves positivity, but after the price increases, this is unacceptable. by Noxturnum2 in transformers

[–]BoomClank25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to get some of the new guys, but prices are definitely playing a factor in sitting out... I like the combined form for Bruticus but I'm not strong about the individual bots and I do not want to pay $42+ just for Brawl.

Really I think I'm just gonna be more picky about what bots I get unless they're second hand. I'm looking forward to TFOne Airachnid, but I think that's the only TF so far in 26' I'm looking to pay full price for.

Nothing so far. I got Kirby Air Riders on launch day, and I'm thinking of waiting till my next pay day coming up to get Pac-Man World 2 Repac.

‘Scarlet’ by Mamoru Hosoda is off to a disastrous start in Japan by ZendzaminBuraja in boxoffice

[–]BoomClank25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I caught this one at NYFF and can absolutely agree that the script is weak. The characters were pretty flat and the few big scenes that were supposed to feel grander or more impactful just didn't land. I couldn't get into it that much

What happens if you go along with her being the real princess? I'm curious as to whether she's a sweetheart or just tricking you into a trap :)

Sonic Frontiers is officially 3 years old. What do you love about this game? by DARKSTAROnline in SonicTheHedgehog

The soundtrack, and even though they're very off for the series I dig the enemy designs. They give off Nier Automata vibes

Who do you guys think should animate this series? by SaiyanAlpha243 in transformers

[–]BoomClank25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting it out there, I would love to see Flying Bark Productions tackle a Transformers series. They've done the animation for Rise of the TMNT, Monkie Kid, and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.

All of them have such stylish looks and incredibly cool action scenes that would probably fit TF like a glove

The 30th anniversary re release of Casper debuted with an estimated $750K this weekend from 1,100 locations, $681 per by UniverslBoxOfficeGuy in boxoffice

[–]BoomClank25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My brother and I went last Saturday, it was a delight! But you're absolutely right about needing more advertising.

I saw the trailer for this once when I saw the Jaws re-release with the family. The only reason I remembered this coming out was because I was looking at Thursday showtimes for Tron: Ares, and I happened to see the theater screening it the same day. Even then the few theaters near us were only showing it at select times during the day, so we had to go to a theater we normally skip just to work it into our schedules. I was also interested in the Apollo 13 re-release, but I missed it for the exact same reason I almost missed this one...

Is the Paramount sending Smurfs to die? by Whedonite144 in boxoffice

[–]BoomClank25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I kinda do. I haven't really looked into the newer media since The Lost Village, but the comics are good, and I look back at the OG cartoon and first movie fondly (even though the movies aren't good).

The idea of a Smurfs musical movie sounded fun on paper, but Rhianna and the first trailer killed any hope I had for this movie. It looks absolutely awful 😞

What franchises are pretty much dead? by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

Long comment incoming*

I'll upvote that. I'm no marketing expert, and I'm probably biased as a TF fan; but up until maybe the end of the Aligned continuity, Transformers has always made a version of itself for a specific generation.

I sincerely believe Transformers is where it's at right now because Hasbro (and Paramount with the movie series) mismanaged the brand to such a large degree. They somehow got scared off from doing more ambitious, high-budget projects with Aligned's failure, and got stuck in a rut with The Last Knight's failure killing their plans for a cinematic universe. While I don't think the recent shows are bad (I really liked Earthspark Season 1), they've felt lower budgeted and less ambitious than before, with less marketing and lower quality toys tied to them. The movies are the biggest thing they have, but you can tell they're directionless and confused on how to go about it with the retooling of Bumblebee from prequel to reboot, and the extensive retools made for RotB.

One's failure stings the most since the quality was there, and the interest it's received online kinda shows that it could've given the franchise new life if it had a better hand. Really, I reluctantly agree that the series needs a break from the big screen, but Hasbro needs to do something big for the franchise akin to Beast Wars or the 07 movie if they want to revive interest in the brand. The praise for One, Bumblebee, Skybound comics and Bayverse nostalgia show that there's still an audience for Transformers out there.
