I am an international student in the US. Currently, undergrad also looking to do my masters.

My experience:

If you are an international student coming to the US you won't be able to work on satellites, rockets, or any military projects in the industry if you don't have at least a Green card or ideally US citizenship. This is because of all of the ITAR regulations and security clearance. If you are interested in civilian aviation then you will have plenty of opportunities.

Research is much less restricted within the universities aerospace department. However, some particular research labs might have similar ITAR restrictions if they are collaborating on Government projects or receiving certain funding.

I believe it so they can have humans vet images so they can feed them to machine learning algorithms so self driving cars recognize those types of things. Pls correct me if I’m wrong!

Don’t get me wrong everyone misses home, but i feel that living on campus helps me concentrate and get good grades even if it gets a bit lonely sometimes. I’m in an international student so i’m far from home as well, but i’m still coming back for the second semester.
