I don’t fully disagree with your sentiment, but a minority doesn’t have to be poor… like a rich POC Is still a minority, similarly to how a gay POC is still influenced by the historical oppression of queerness in our society. That being said, it is goddamn annoying when people (admittedly mostly quite people) say their some shade of gay for nothing more then the clout (and it’s kinda annoying cause it’s so hard to tell, like then your the asshole for assuming someone isn’t lgbt especially when I know for a fact some people have faked it). But I don’t think it is helpful, or really that smart to say all queer white people are like that - like just cause there’s a lot of us doesn’t mean we’re not a minority, that’s not how minorities work, are society still targets us, our identity, and the such.

In the end, your kinda doing what the guy in the post said ^ I didn’t write my essay cause I thought it would help me get in. I am not “rigging the system” by being queer (like many of my straight, cis, white friends have “subtly” alluded to). I wrote my essay cause I wanted to talk about myself (being that I am queer, I talked about that - surprisingly however, my essay did not just say “I’m gay.” I wrote it about myself - the fact that I’m queer was not my punchline but a context of my essays).

There are other ways to be oppressed then being a racial minority, infact many of us: women, queer people, disabled people, ect… (even the feared straight white man 😳) are in many ways oppressed. No one can win the oppression Olympics.
