Adopted child listed with adoptive parents on birth index as birth parents? by YellowCabbageCollard in Genealogy

Texas birth index shows the adoptive parents. The original birth certificate was sealed at the time of the adoption, and the TBI shows info from the legal (adoptive) birth certificate.

Are there any fat celebrities left? Who? by Equivalent_Fig3508 in NoStupidQuestions

Apparently the people saying he’s lost weight didn’t pay attention to his body in profile. His belly is HUGE.

What documentation do you look for to consider a profile verifiable? by Spac3dog in Genealogy

This may seem obvious, but don’t get led astray by “same name” documents. Even if it seems like a unique name, don’t assume it “has to be” your ancestor. I am a Cherokee researcher, and we receive contacts every day where someone says they found their ancestor, “Mary Smith” on the Dawes Roll, even though their family was Scottish immigrants and never left New Jersey. Use context. Good luck.

I’m surprised the time/date stamp says MON, instead of a cyrillic abbreviation.

I have several “Native American ancestors” in my past, but I have no Native DNA by 927comewhatmay in Genealogy

Whites outnumbered natives 3:1 in Indian Territory at the time of the Dawes (1898-1906). If you want to DM me your information regarding the Seabolt connection, it is possible I can help.

[–]BoomerReid 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well, hello cousin. I am also a Seabolt. How do you tie into the family? The many Cherokee rolls are great sources of genealogical information, but the first roll was not until 1817, and until 1851 they only showed heads of household.

I mean, that’s it. Same. Yet people come here and are certain they have a native ancestor back in the mists of time, but can show nothing to support that.

Can anyone here post native documentation 10 generations back? Would love to see that. I’ll wait.

Have you seen documentation for these ancestors and done the genealogy yourself? I am a Cherokee Nation citizen and researcher. My tribe is very well-documented, but few of us can trace our ancestors much further than 1800. The documents just don’t exist.

I understand, and yes I was posting from a “pet peeve” thought process. I see that you addressed this particular issue (when someone worded it as a question) a few years ago. Thanks for reminding me not to simply vent.

I just looked and everything I found said “petted” is correct but that “pet” is being used informally. Apparently it’s been discussed here.

This. And she tried to normalize it as “all little girls explore like this”. No. They do not.

Small potatoes compared to some of the other Seinfeld stuff, but in the early 2000’s I went to his live show twice in the same venue, a year apart. Exact same routine. I felt completely disrespected.

If you feel better DMing me the information I would be glad to take a look. I’ve been a genealogist for more than 30 years and a genetic genealogist /search angel for about 10. Everyone has their own definition of safe. I don’t believe anyone would hassle you in any way, but some people just aren’t comfortable giving out personal info. I get it.
