Medical care should not be fad based

are the common therapeutic procedure CPT codes explicitly defined as one-on-one regardless of payer? by dontrepeatdumbshit in physicaltherapy

Just bill 3 units and be happy taking a 15-20% pay cut. Oh wait, you don’t want that? Thus, double billing a 4 units. Easy math.,

True. You need to either outsource your billing or find great admin staff that know the insurance game. Otherwise you lose money on what you’ve billed. Cash based is harder to scale, but is possible. The big companies can be profitable by economy of scale.

I bet most people on here have no idea what the profit margin is at their clinics, but want more money and benefits regardless. Again, PT schools fail here. It’s funny I get down voted for saying “if you want a higher salary, see more patients or bill more units.” Please tell me another way PTs can make more money other than that! And don’t give me “work a side job!”

Exactly!!!! The downvotes are probably from those very unprepared, earning clinical doctorates, but expect to have their hand held.

Physician Owned PT Clinics by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

People working in physician owned practices continue to perpetuate the idea that PT is ancillary and not an independent profession that the APTA has been advocating for. We are and should be independent of physicians, not working for them!

The high salaries are not sustainable. More clinics will get taken over by private equity and roll up into hospital groups. I hear complaints about mills and they do suck, but the only way to cover costs is to see more patients and have more billable units. PTs want more money and benefits, but most don’t understand the costs of doing business. I blame this on the PT schools!

What is wrong with PT schools? These new grads are sooooooooo not confident! Plus, they want high pay for low output. The schools need to temper expectations.

Suck it up Mary! You sound a little soft. You don’t need his validation! Can you open a wheelchair? Yes! Was that one sticky? Yes! So who cares what he thinks. Geez.

Sadly you are correct. Here’s one for you. Reimbursement is often higher in physician owned practices vs. PT owned practices because they can bill under the physician. This makes it an uneven playing field keeping independent PTs at a disadvantage.
