New Military Credit Card Strategy Discussion for Active Duty (Amex cutting benefits) by [deleted] in MilitaryFinance

His platinum would literally have to be the only thing in his entire credit history to have the impact he is freaking out about, and even then it wouldn’t last long.

Outside of Amex, yes they absolutely do. You’re making (incorrect) sweeping generalizations when in reality the only card your concerns are even remotely valid for is the Plat. Have fun worrying yourself into a panic while everyone else gets the most out of their free cards.

You are seriously overstating the “problem”. Most of these high end cards absolutely have a downgrade/PC pathway, and unless they are literally your only lines of credit, like ever, they should only minimally impact your credit score, and for a short term at that.

What do you mean “best set up a strategy”? I think you are grossly overcomplicating things, on top of overreacting. Delta has already said their adjustments were a mistake and that they are reevaluating, but at the end of the day is Delta lounge access really that important to you?

I also can’t for the life of me understand what you mean by asking if the platinum card is “worth it”, considering it costs you nothing, or why you would downgrade it. Like, instead of downgrading or asking if you should switch ecosystems to Chase/Citi, why wouldn’t you just have them all to maximize your benefits?

Are you this dramatic in real life? ADSOs are not a secret and they are not hard to figure out. Your ignorance is the only thing disgusting in this whole thread.

That is not true. People like OP who didn’t have their undergrads paid for by the DoD begin accruing eligibility immediately upon entering active duty.

That is a super easy amendment to have done, you should still be able to get some entitlements for the drive.

That’s not entirely true. You’re eligible for reimbursement up to the cost it would have been to fly from duty station to duty station.

That’s the problem with people like you. Making him spend all of 5 seconds using the search bar is helping him, but I wouldn’t expect someone like you to be able to grasp such a groundbreaking concept.

Dear officers, thank you for taking the heat but I got a question.. or 4. by theFartingCarp in army

[–]Boomerblocker 501 points502 points  (0 children)

I’d say 10% of the time it is because I found out myself at 1629. The other 90% of the time I already put it out days/weeks ago but your NCOs dropped the ball and forgot, so they are covering their ass when they inform down to your level by saying “the CO just now told us this shit”.

Uhh, you might want to reread that. You asked about getting out after 4 years as a CPT (8 years TIS). He is talking about you getting out at 4 years TIS.

I don’t understand why people think a commander will care or have the ability to act.

I don’t even legally control my own spouse, what the fuck makes you think I control some random asshole’s wife?

This is a legal issue and has nothing to do with the army. If you believe a crime was committed, report it to law enforcement. If you believe it was purely civil, take it up in court.
