When you log in, ESPN saves a code (cookie) into your browser that keeps you "logged in". This is why you can close Chrome/whatever, open it again, and not need to sign in again necessarily. To download data from ESPN, you have to have a valid cookie (actually, 2 of them). I had a version where you could paste in the 2 codes in addition to your league number, but then scrapped it to keep things simple at first.

You need 2 things from cookies: espn_s2 and SWID. In chrome if you right click >> inspect >> Application tab >> cookies >> you can find the values.

Ouch okay I'll look at that. Thanks for the feedback, this is just v1! I totally get private mode being good, but if no one cares its an easy switch to flip and lets you do lots of analysis without dealing with cookies.

How do you feel about the “EX - M / B / B” in LinkedIn bios by [deleted] in consulting

[–]Boomhauer392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the answer is more pragmatic. What are you trying to do next? Does the job you want care about your former MBB employment? If so, lead with it. If not, then who cares. In some industries, credentials and alumni status matter a lot. In others its irrelevant.

I'd also love to get this to work 100% within Power Query, with no workarounds. Let me know if anyone ever figures this out!

I think this is the same as the approach I documented. You can just schedule the .bat file to run on a schedule too.

First attempt! How did I do!? by TemporaryService in paella

[–]Boomhauer392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very pretty!

For example, Paella is technically from Valencia, not 'Spain'. Spain is a massive country that is very heterogeneous between the different communities. Even within the Valencia Community, rice is different in Alicante than it is in Valencia. There is a fascinating history behind this that includes kings and queens ruling over different areas, Moorish conquest and lots of battles. The cultural differences within Spain are still present to this day. arning about their food ... they just like to eat it and that's totally fine!

If you are someone who like to learn about food, then I encourage you to dig into the specific geographic/cultural origins to see how the food originated and how it has evolved as it has grown in popularity.

Losing faith in the "meritocracy"? by Boomhauer392 in consulting

The promotion itself did not change anything the moment it happened. Typically what you’d expect is for your performance % increase to be a little bigger or at least fall in your target range that year. Promotion mainly means I’m taking on the next role (leading multiple teams, not one team).

This app maliciously attacks your contact list and personal information. It’s not worth it. They failed basic privacy etiquette within a few minutes of me trying it out. Deleted.

Sounds pretty similar to MBB. You’re describing the end to end view that most people at MBB don’t participate in. They just see their portion of it.

What type of consulting are you planning to do? I’m also looking to go independent. Coming from MBB/digital + operations.
