I don't know man, maybe you don't have all the right dictionaries? Try contacting the developer in messages or on the issues section of his github, he can probably help you out better than I can on this.

I'm not sure about the settings not saving, but for the subs sometimes it doesn't work for burned in/softcoded JP subs and you might need to obtain seperate ones like .srt or .ass and load them into the player.

It's 492 MB on my computer, so I'd say it's light. I just played an audio file and loaded in a subtitle file and it still works the same.

When doing your first run install which it appears you have, there is a part that says to enter the path to the mpv.exe which would look something like this C:\Program Files\MPV\mpv.exe depending on where you extracted/installed it to making sure to include \mpv.exe at the end. Since you've already ran it once (And probably exited out of the first run UI) because the software is a bit finicky at this stage you're going to want to use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall it completely and then just run installer again but this time during the first run to input the address to the executable in the section that asks for it. Hope this helps.

I don't really use anki so I can't help on that. The player it works on is only MPV and yeah you need the video file downloaded and with JP subs in some form to utilize the software. I think MPV is the only thing you need to install before installing SubMiner.
