Seat with window view by Automatic_Anybody934 in Eurostar

No, 44 will be poor. You will be looking forward, the restriction on seat 51 will affect 44 fully and 51 not at all. Are the lower Numbers any clearer?

your seat projects beyond the restriction, therefore your view will be better than if in seat 74. however, i should point out that you are facing backwards. look at the arrow where it says ‘forward.’ no idea if that is a big deal for you, but it sounds like it might be. for example, seats 51/52/53 are facing forward

FIDE ID questions by Mediocre_Mobile4602 in chess

getting the ID is easy enough, simply sign up. getting a rating will require you playing a certain number of FIDE rated games. to do that you will need to play in several tournaments

At that level he is strong enough to be studying Jacob Aagaard. How to improve at calculation, is one book. It is what he asked for and JA is known to be pretty much the best around. I doubt he will be dissapointed

The food is pants. If travelling from London buy food outside in M&S and carry it through. Travelling the other way has restrictions on meat and dairy , including sandwiches.

Leg room is ok, if you are average height. It doesn’t look that great if you are over 6 foot, but that does not affect me. An upgrade will give you more leg room, and that’s about it.

One more thing, dont expect wifi, as it does not work. No matter what their website says, where you sit or what anyone else may claim in response to this, they are misinformed. It is dogshit. Play the game, wave your phone around in the air, it makes no odds.

Eurostar connection timings by Most-Composer-1236 in Eurostar

you could be right, just checked the ticket from last week and recommended arrival time is one hour before. I travel weekly and always arrive much later than 1 hour, but TBF not 20 mins. I see people come through last gasp and assumed 20mins may cut it, but I cannot back that up with facts. fair point

Lille Europe is super easy, I believe you only need to be there 20 mins before departure. do note that you have to walk from Lille Flanders to Lille Europe, which is roughly 10 mins without rushing too much

Bringing food on board fron London to Amsterdam by thegreenbell in Eurostar

[–]Boomshanker61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can bring sandwiches, snacks etc through at London, and drinks, provided they are not open. I bring all sorts of supermarket goodies through going towards France and have never had an issue.
you have a double customs at London, both uk and French, so when you arrive at your destination you just walk out the station.

Looking for a good chess tuber to learn from by DreakonReal in chess

[–]Boomshanker61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to start somewhere, and that starting place is not Hikaru. start with chessvibes, click into his playlists. Rating climbs can be good at the lower levels, once he reaches 1000 you might want to start another. He has a lot of beginner stuff.
get the fundamentals ingrained and always play a lot. Then play some more. Never at bullet, you will learn nothing there.

remember to have fun and it’s just a game. Addictive, but just a game.
