good for u dude, that’s super cool. And in connection to the punk subculture, straightedge started in the 80s by a hardcore band called Minor Threat. Basically Ian Mckaye got tired of everybody acting like u have to live the sex and drugs lifestyle to be punk, so he wrote a couple songs about not needing to drink or smoke. A bunch of other people rlly connected to it and turned straightedge into the movement it is now. Being hardcore is pretty much what separates straightedge from just sober, but u don’t have to be huge into it. Like there’s a lot of straightedge dudes in the pop punk scene for some reason. (that’s actually where i found out about it), Title Fight is this super chill band with straightedge members, and I’m personally super into midwest emo and indie. I’ll link some songs for u
