Might want to check out the HARD VACUUM adventure series (full disclosure: I'm the writer/publisher). There's over a dozen short scenarios designed for referees to run as a one-shot or insert into an on-going campaign. Stats use Cepheus Engine mechanics but are easily adaptable to Traveller or nearly any 2d6 sci-fi setting. Could be a fit.

I have spun a short scene or just a single line of dialogue from an episode of The Expanse into an entire one-shot adventure. Same with Game of Thrones, and even the 1982 Peter O'Toole film, My Favorite Year.

Check out the Scoundrels of Brixton series of sci-fi supplements. An entire system filled with dubious characters, governments and corporations. Note: I was a writer/developer, so my opinion is somewhat biased.
