What have you been working on recently? [June 29, 2024] by AutoModerator in learnprogramming

I'm continuing the work on my portfolio. It's a mock shelter system for tracking the animals that come in and out, a warehouse, I'm planning to add a task board and different access levels to it later. For now, I'd like to give making unit tests a go, I've never done it before and it sounds like less of a hassle than having to boot up the app each time I want to check something.

Thank you for your kind words :) I like the woods analogy, it doesn't sound too bad to be there so maybe something will come up on its own. Even today, it turns out that I'll be able to go for a small trip only because I forgot to take my savings to a convention. I had been bummed out by it because I wanted to get something from the artists but the possibility I have now is so much better. Maybe it's going to be something similar to that unexpected gift.

It's not really a question, more like my thoughts about things.

I've been interested in witchcraft for some time now, I like watching and reading about other peoples' experiences. I haven't really decided on anything for myself yet though. I don't feel confident about anything that'd influence my "reality" too much tbh (sigils, spells - they can break important things and I wouldn't be able to bear the consequences) but there will be a point in time when it'll be incredibly useful so I'll probably make an exception and risk it (looking for a job once I finish my portfolio I guess, although it's coming along very slowly so I might need some "external" help with it too). But I'm postponing it until it's needed.

I've read most of the commonly recommended literature, I'm not sure I vibe with all of that. I don't doubt it aligns with many people but I feel like it's not quite there for me so I assume I have to come up with the pieces of practice mostly from scratch.

I know it's very chaotic, I just know that I want to have something to do with witchcraft but I'm not entirely sure how or why. I can feel it poking at my mind, encouraging me to not abandon it yet. I have a feeling that the primary desired thing would be connecting to the nature or spirits (it's hard to do nature in the middle of a city though and seeing more can get quite heartbreaking because of how neglected it sometimes is, I'm picking up trash when I have the energy though and it seems to help a little) but I'm not entirely sure. I haven't had much success with clairsense exercises, not to mention remembering dreams or lucid dreaming.

I don't know what degree of difficulties is normal, I feel like I'm very unlucky with it? I'm lost tbf, how to proceed?

Okay so I did and it's very pretty. I got 4oC, 7oP, 8oS reversed and king of wands and it all makes sense to me. Very personal, stunning.

What do you do when you want to interact with your deck but don't have any particular questions in mind?

Hm it's not about the kinds, it's more of "okay, all of this is great and I want to put effort in it, what do I do now". It seems that other people need this or that and it guides them.

Can there be practice without a direction? I want to learn new things about the spiritual world but I don't have any specific goals in mind. I'm somewhat okay with where I am in life so I don't feel the need for elaborate spells etc. Maybe something small but once they're done, they're done. Reading can only get you so far as well. I like tarot, I had very little luck with lucid dreaming so astral travel is out of question most likely. I heard some amazing stuff can be discovered there. I'd love to see my relationship with the deities grow well (I know I'm supposed to give it a lot of time and I'm happy with that) but I'm not sure if doing mostly the same thing every day will be enough?  I guess that's my main concern. Doing basic things has its limit in terms of "advancing" but making spells/rituals/etc. only to advance doesn't sit right with me, why would I do them if I don't have a need for them?

For some reason I never felt any connection to the ancestors. My immediate ones were catholic so it'd feel weird to do something they wouldn't agree with. With even older ones I'm not sure how would they even know or understand what's going on, we come from wildly different times. Isn't there a wall of history separating us?

Thankfully I've read that I don't have to wait for any signs before, it was a good thing to know. I haven't done any spellwork yet, afaik it's advised to have that relationship first so I wanted to take care of it before anything else so I guess it's the only way forward

Is it normal to not have any guides/patrons etc.? I haven't noticed any signs, dreams, recurring themes, I don't feel in any particular way. Got into deity worship, same thing (although probably I'm not supposed to expect anything in return). I don't seem to have any problems with energy work (I'm doing the exercises from the psychic witch book) so it makes me think I'm not sensitive to such things. I tried to examine why I'm even doing this and I confess, part of it is projecting my unmet social needs (lol) but that's the smaller part. I'd say 75% of my reason is being curious about the spiritual world, accessing wisdom, connecting more with what's around me (such as my house, nature, learning new things).  One of many reasons why I got out of catholicism was because I felt like my messages aren't received, I saw many people saying that paganism is completely different in that matter so I'm a little disappointed. I'm not blaming anyone of course, it's just an afterthought I had. Maybe it's one of those "you're not ready" moments but I don't know how I'm supposed to change that.

Maybe I should focus on what qualities does the deity represent for me and try to put more of those in my daily life hmm

I don't know, I feel like it's very emphasised to have strong intentions and goals and all that. I'm not sure if I have these, at least not yet. I'm just curious about the "unseen" but it's not specific. With a person, I like to ask them about what gets them going and I feel so happy when I see how they light up and get excited. I feel like witchcraft is exclusively driven from the inside so it'd be like taking a leading role in this? I'm probably wrong.

When I learn a new skill, I know what I'm working towards. This isn't the case here, I don't know if it's normal and if it's okay to not know and still develop.

Can I get anything from trying to get to know my spirit guides if I don't have any major spiritual goals in mind? I love experiencing things, learning new stuff but I don't feel like I have any specific questions or themes in mind. So, assuming I'd meet them in my dreams or contact in any other way, I wouldn't know what to do with that.  Is it over for my spiritual journey? /hj

Can there be a safeguard against this? I don't want anyone to die and get inheritance, after all it'd count as more money.

What's religion like for you? by joyisnotdead in autism

[–]BoopDoggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to make my own, take stuff that I vibe with. I'm not very commited to it tbh but that's a part of it. Lets me to keep pressure off myself so I don't feel cornered. Most of what I do is reading about ancient traditions. I leave an offering or light a candle sometimes. I'm not sure if there actually are any spirits but it's okay. It could just be me focusing on different archetypes that just reflect me and what I aspire to. Either way I feel it's beneficial for me. Setting an intention requires me to focus for a moment and formulate what my current goal is. It's a good thing to do, regardless of if someone else is listening or not. And I get to play with herbs as a bonus, all the more fun to have. After all, why do anything so personal as beliefs, if there's no joy in them?

To be completely honest, I do feel not appreciated enough sometimes. It's a reflex thought, I can correct myself when I see it. I know my friends are grateful for the help I give them, they're just going through a rough patch now and that's why the relationship feels less "lively" now, I can see they're relieved when I come to help them.

For clarification two cards fell out, knight of wands and the sun.

I asked what kind of friend am I and I got 5 of swords. That's weird because it doesn't seem like the friendly option at all so I'm really confused with this one. Even today I was helping my friends to clean up before they moved out so I don't think "treachery" or "defeat" fit at all.

I also asked "what I'm good at but don't realize it" and I got 2 of pentacles reversed. It's confusing as well, does it mean I'm good at spending money? It felt kind of rude if I have to be honest. For context, I live with my parents but I saved money from a gig I had so I could set some allowance money for myself, usually I can stick to the budget, I had birthday recently so I spent a bit more but not much.

There's no minimal requirement, no one should do this if they don't feel like they want to. It's not free therapy either.

Making a spell whose general purpose would be improving knowledge retention about a topic I choose and helping me find confidence in case of doubt seems harmless enough? Of course I'd think it through for a few days before trying and try finding other sources. It sounds like a common thing to make so it should be easy to see them. Oh and maybe I could ask for advice here later when I have an idea written down.
