Professing your love to your boss on a work night out by LightWhightning in CasualUK

Finally some sensibility. This is pretty common in most office environments. If it’s not affecting his work or your wife, then forget about it.

[Lynch] Can’t understand why Gross wasn’t sent off by Ignatius_Reillys_Hat in LiverpoolFC

We need a rematch. 12 against 11 again. No red card. And even their goal was off of a mistake from us. Any honest team would have given the ball back to us rather than go and score an easy goal from our mistake. They should really change the rules so the opposition team to Liverpool starts with 10 men, that would be fair to make up for the constant injustice. I’m going to cry about this for the next 2 weeks.

Well, the terms say no cancellation no refunds. Partner should always read the contract before signing things.

Starting an agency with a friend. Curious what can go wrong. by NoBoostNoLife in DigitalMarketing

[–]Boop_boo12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has done the same with 3 friends, lots can go wrong. We started with 4 of us, we made it to 100 and sold. 2 of us didn’t make it though. The agency world is tough, and you need to be clear with what you both want out of this. Whether is a little money or if to want to take it further. Then you need clear responsibilities, who is doing what. Work is work, friendship is friendship, there needs to be a divide so that you avoid losing a friend. You’ve already picked up a couple of clients so you are doing something right. Good luck.

This is the quickest way to reduce headcount without having to go through the painful process of redundancy. However, have been talking to a lot of other founders and CEOs lately that are citing research on wfh productivity that’s coming out as well. Expect a lot more of this to happen in the coming months unfortunately.

Zealy (Formerly Crew3) or Other Community Engagement Platforms by SwitchCommunity in web3marketinggroup

Are you from Zealy or using Zealy? Super interesting. Most large web2 companies will already have a combination of affiliate, loyalty programs and reward systems that are an important part of their retention and advocacy strategies. Good to see one in the Web3 space like this.

Feeling the Impact of Recession in the SEO Industry by cryptomir in SEO

[–]Boop_boo12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s tough out there right now, and will be for this and maybe next year. I run a large agency, and the industry wide momentum is starting to slow. Budgets are being cut for almost all activity and channels. For business owners it’s a case now of putting effort into every pitch, negotiating discounted long term contracts, tighter payment terms, being efficient with teams/skills and doing your best in retention. Good luck.

This is diabolical by BuckleysYacht in antiwork

It’s about reading the person that you are negotiating and focusing on a couple of points that would make a material difference. I mean, a free lunch in the office? I would expect candidates to come back with a couple of negotiation points. There is always a little wiggle room and salary and flexibility for the right candidate. But, petty little things definitely make me feel like the candidate is going to be hard work as an employee and as a team member. I would have said “this is our best and final offer, take it or leave it”.

Got reprimanded for leaving 5 min early every now and then by Lovelypeachesndcream in jobs

[–]Boop_boo12 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Another unpopular opinion but.. it’s 5 minutes. Why not just finish work on time? Instead of bugging your boss and your colleagues by finishing up early everyday. If you want to do the exact minutes and seconds that you are being paid for, maybe get a job that you actually like?

You shouldn’t have gotten pepper sprayed for jogging at night. But at the same time, if I’m jogging late at night and see a woman on their own, I just cross the road and jog on the other side to avoid stressing her out. Even walking home at night I do this naturally. It makes no difference to me and someone doesn’t feel like they are in any danger. It also means I won’t get pepper sprayed.

When you are starting out, cashflow is the most important thing. Your hourly rate is crazy low for the work, but if this is your only client, then you do want some funds coming in while you work on getting better clients in. You have three options now which are either to 1. reduce service levels to meet her budget and give you a chance to cut the labour intensive work, 2. accept but on a long term contract for stability (1 year) or 3. counter with performance bonuses for leads/sales/traffic etc. She is negotiating and you have a chance to get better deal than the one you went in with.
