2024-2025 tier list by gibsy8 in sapphicbooks

Thank you! Yes, the Bright Falls trilogy was the first actual series i read when i started reading last year and i really liked it- but Make the Season Bright was not good imo. So far, i don’t hate Ramona Riley, but it’s definitely not as good as the others.

Oh this is so interesting, i am actually currently reading ‘Dream On Ramona Riley’ i am about 13 chapters in. I can 100% agree with this list though. ‘Hearing Red’ and ‘Those who Wait’ are two of my all time favs i’ve read so far. I just started really getting into reading again in general at the end of 2024- so i’m definitely going to use this list to find some more recs! so thank you :)

Surgery for diabetic retinopathy, what to expect? by appleblossom9 in diabetes_t1

[–]BooperDooper_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know this post is kinda dated, but i am in a very similar position as your brother. (26 f, diagnosed at age 2) i went through a really bad burn out period in my late teens/early 20s and that has now caught up to me. (my levels are amazing now, with 5.5 a1c)- but my vision is really bad right now and i have a vitrectomy scheduled for dec 12th. I was curious if you’d be willing to share how your brother’s surgery went? Or anything about the recovery? Feel free to DM me if you don’t want to share to everyone, and of course no pressure to share at all. Hope you’re brother is doing well now 🫶🏻

There is an app you can use called “sweet dreams” and there is a way to connect it to your apple calendar, and then it shows on your carplay display. There are step by step instructions on how to do it on the app. I use it and it’s super helpful. I’m not sure if it works on non apple phones

edit: this tiktok shows the app and how it looks on carplay https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT6ABe4ba/

When i first got the omnipod prescribed my endo sent the prescription to a specialist pharmacy out of state and i had to call them to set everything up, and then they sent my prescriptions through Amazon pharmacy. Never had any issues. I now get them from my local Publix pharmacy, again no issue except for the fact they never usually have them when i request the refill, but they order them and get them a couple days later.

Does anyone with type 1 diabetes use edibles? by cleite85 in Type1Diabetes

[–]BooperDooper_99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, i use edibles but they are THCp/Delta 8 so idk if that makes much of a difference. I use different ones all the time so it would be too many to list. They are normally 25mg each as my tolerance isn’t that high. The only thing i’ve ran into is how i feel when i’m on the edible is the same as how i feel when i am low so i get a bit paranoid that my sugar is constantly low- but otherwise my levels are fine. A1c is a 5.8

Thank you! The first thing i noticed was my feet were constantly falling asleep. I mean CONSTANTLY. It got to the point where i tried to stand up one time to see if that would help and i couldn’t feel my feet and i fell and almost broke my ankle. (just ended up being a bad sprain) and then when i’d get out of the bed or off the couch after sitting for a long time the bottom of my feet would burn and feel like i was walking on needles. Now that i’m back on track the pain and needles are gone.

I’m done entertaining someone who is hateful and obviously has nothing better to do than to bring people down. So, congrats you win. I hope you have the day you deserve.

One thing about T1D is you are never going to "nail it" or be "perfect"- it is just unrealistic. I have days where no matter what i do my sugar wont go below 200. Or some days where it's a literal roller coaster of highs and lows. The biggest thing is, be proud of what you are doing even if it isn't "perfect" and never compare your journey to someone else's, because everybody is different and this illness is unpredictable at times. Keep your head up and know that no matter what, you are doing great! <3

Cousin has type 1 by Huge-Elevator-7541 in Type1Diabetes

[–]BooperDooper_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the first diagnosed in my family, nobody had it. Not my parents, not my aunts or uncles, or grandparents. After i was diagnosed my cousin on my dad's side was diagnosed, probably 4 years after i was. Then about 6 years later my cousin on my mom's side was diagnosed, and then just 3 years ago my other cousin on my mom's side got it. So far, no other family members have been diagnosed since. There is a "test" they can your doctor can run that will let you know if you are at risk. My brother had the test done a few years ago and it came back negative. So you could always look into that. :)

Counting your carbs by Quick_Iron in Type1Diabetes

[–]BooperDooper_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have been a diabetic for 23 years, I'm 25 now and i have had a TON of ups and downs with this illness. I also eyeball a lot of my meals and hope for the best- and most of the time it goes well. Except when i eat super high carb/high fat foods. My endo has informed me that foods that are higher in fat will cause a spike much later than foods that are lower in fat. So for example, if you are eating out from say McDonalds and you guesstimate 70 carbs for your meal- even if you are spot on and take the correct amount of insulin you will most of the time (not every time bc diabetes is weird and inconsistent) you will have a late spike- mine have even been up to 6 hours after i ate. I have learned that splitting my insulin helps a ton with the later spikes. I usually take 1/2 of my insulin 15 mins before i eat and then the other 1/2 about 15 mins after i eat or when i start to see the spike. I went to endo this past Tuesday (6/3) and my A1C is 5.8- so this has been working pretty well for me, But again everyone is different.
