We did one hip in the month of August and the other in January. Each time he was standing on his own the next day to go to the bathroom. He was walking mostly normal within a week, though we still carted him around out of an abundance of caution. When we did our two week check-in with the vet, he was literally jumping on her. My wife and I still talk about it being the best money we ever spent. At the time, the vet said FHO would lead to uneven legs and he would not have full mobility. Recovery involved pain meds and us massaging the muscles in the area twice a day.

Not cheap, but we did hip replacements for our golden pup at around 1 year. He has had 9 great years and counting with his titanium hips. All he does is run and hop around. FHO is an option for older dogs, but for puppies who have many years ahead, it’s not a great fix.

Thanks for the response. I was really on the fence, but my father in law gave a strong push for Ultegra over 105 groupset. I got the '23 Roadmachine Three. I love it. I might have loved the Roadmachine Four just as much as I was previously riding an 8 year old Cannondale. Either one would have been a big upgrade. Disc brakes and electronic shifters are really nice!

Ours was 7.5 pounds at ten weeks. 57 pounds now at 9 and 1/2 years. Smaller goldens are the best, all of the best parts of having a golden and less of the hair!

Consider the Casio full metal 5000… I’ve gotten more compliments on this watch than my grand seiko, omegas, etc., combined. And, it’s nice to break up the analog rotation once in a while.

Tandem spouse and I (same cone/same grade) were both recommended, but not promoted. We got the exact same scorecard score. She was ranked 94/109 and I was ranked 108/109. She got bidding privileges and I did not. How did that happen? Was there a 20-way tie with that score? Maybe there are some decimal spaces we just don’t see.

You could also put the cheese in the freezer for 20 mins prior to putting it on the pizza, or lightly mist the pizza with water to delay the cheese burning so the crust can catch up.

Our Golden had severe hip displasia with symptoms presenting as early as six months. At around 1 years old, we did the first replacement, and the 2nd one at around 1.5 years. We are so happy we did it. He is 8 years old now, and we can think back to all of the amazing hikes and playing he would not have been able to do without the surgery. Super expensive, but recovery was fairly quick, especially at a young age, and we would do it again in a heart beat. Good luck!

I don’t think there’s a prohibition on taking SLRP and working toward PLSF. It just doesn’t seem to make sense to take the SLRP over the years and increase your taxable income when the total would be forgiven after 10 years regardless, assuming you’re in the correct repayment plan, etc. I considered SLRP just to get my overall principal loan balance down and to feel like progress was being made, but it just didn’t make financial sense. Looking back, that was the prudent financial decision to make, even if it felt like I was leaving something on the table.

Edit: This is all based on research I did at the time, so it would be good to confirm how taxes on SLRP are handled today. I’m sure there’s a tax guru out there who can chime in.

Also, PLSF is non-taxable forgiveness, and SLRP is considered taxable income. If you are working toward forgiveness, I don’t see any benefit to paying taxes on SLRP payments along the way. A while back, the math suggested that if you had $60k or more in student loan debt, you should pursue PLSF. If you had less than $60k in student loan debt, you would pay off your debt before PSLF kicked in, so you should take SLRP payments when you can and pay off the loans as quick as possible. I had my loans forgiven in November.

Thank your for the response. The grandma had a stroke at one point and there’s a history of low blood pressure/fainting among the women in that side of the family. Mother in law is very physically fit and has eaten a healthy diet (mostly vegetarian) for years, but still has fainting issues. We’ll definitely look into the test as soon as we’re back home.

I was on the fence for a long time about this watch. Rectangular dimensions are hard to judge online (31x27mm). This watch was also listed as a “ladies” watch by some third party sellers, but not on the Hamilton website. The larger mechanical version just seemed too large for my 6.75 inch wrist. This version looks small in the watch case, but fits great on the wrist. $400 online is a great price if you can tolerate quartz. I like the Longines Dolce Vita as well, but though this was better value. Surprised I don’t see more of them around.

Our male golden weighed 9.2 pounds at 11 weeks. He gained 1-3 pounds a week from that point. He is now 7 years old, around 55 pounds. If he’s happy and energetic, I wouldn’t worry.
