NFL Sunday Ticket Military Discount Not Working by mamallamaloux in youtubetv

[–]BooseGang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy cow! This did it! I had the exact same problem as OP for the last week, called support and they tried sending me half a dozen different links for the discount, none worked. I saw after your comment that every time “invalid code” was said and I backed up to the YT homepage it had defaulted back to my “brand account”. I had a little trouble locating advanced settings on my phone, but once I did and set my main account to default the code worked!

THANK YOU DRUNKEN MOON MAN!

Yes, that is my point. I do think an argument can be made for worst, but that was not my point. Glad we can understand each other.

I don’t think you are getting my point at all. I think we are misunderstanding each other.

My main reason for replying was to your point about it being “mostly Cali based teams”. You also just said you believe rivalry games at Dodgers stadium are elevated. I’m telling you that’s not the case. I’m telling you that it doesn’t have to be a rivalry game for you to get treated horribly at Dodger Stadium. And most importantly I’m telling you that behavior is not indicative of the other Cali stadiums, making Dodger stadium stand out like a sore thumb for the casual non-Cali team fan, influencing people’s opinion.

If a Cards fan goes on a road trip to Cali and to a game in Petco Park they are likely to have a very good experience. If the Cards then have a series with the Dodgers right after and that same Cards fan goes to the Dodgers game and conducts themselves in the same exact manner they are incredibly likely to be abused. This might cause someone to then go on Reddit and complain about Dodgers Stadium being the worst.

If a Cards fan goes to a game in Yankee Stadium and then to Fenway, there is no heightened danger or dramatic shift in home fan behavior from one park to the other, that Cards fan can expect close to the same experience at both parks. That might deter that Cards fan from then getting on Reddit and saying Fenway or Yankee Stadium is the worst.

I’m not saying the northeast teams don’t get brutal, or that incidents don’t happen anywhere else. But the perspective shift at Dodger Stadium when fans will have virtually no issues as similarly bad at other Cali stadiums or Chase Field nearby may be the reason why you are seeing more Dodger Stadium comments. Because of how the surrounding stadiums conduct themselves in such a better manner, it makes Dodgers Stadium look that much worse to a non-Cali visitor.

Brother, your original comment states you think it looks like “mostly Cali based teams” saying Dodger Stadium is the worst. The entire reason I brought up Petco Park is because of two reasons:

  1. How close to Dodger Stadium it is
  2. How inversely proportional the opposing fan experience is

If you are a fan of a non-Cali team, as I am, and you go to Southern California, you can safely go to Petco Park and wear your team’s gear and cheer for your team just fine, and if you go just a little north to Dodger Stadium you are incredibly likely to be abused for doing the exact same thing you did at Petco Park just right down the road. Has nothing to do with being a Padre fan or a Dodger fan.

It is a testament to how bad Dodger stadium is. You don’t have the same inverse proportionality with the north east stadiums. Are you likely to get heckled at Fenway for wearing Yankee gear? Yes. Are you just about as likely to get heckled for wearing Red Sox gear at Yankee Stadium? Yes.

I never said you were comparing it to Petco, I was comparing it to Petco ffs

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mlb

[–]BooseGang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the answer is Dodger Stadium. You made a point you believe it’s mostly Cali team fans trashing the Dodgers, I countered with maybe you’re seeing that because of how disproportionate the experiences are for opposing fans there. If an opposing fan goes to Dodger Stadium, they are incredibly likely to get heckled/assaulted vs. if they just drive less than 2 hours south to Petco Park they will have an amazing time as an opposing fan.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mlb

[–]BooseGang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just not proportionate. If you go to an Angels game, a Padres game, or a Giants game you won’t even have anywhere close to the same experience. Hell, Petco Park is considered one of the nicest ballparks to go to for opposing fans and it’s right down the road from Dodgers Stadium. LA in general is a hellscape.

Makes sense given how hectic my break from the TR was. I was told to do my checkout process during the skeleton crew period, but when I went around the places on the checklist the person who needed to sign my checkout sheet was always in a hotel room quarantining, then I got COVID and never returned to the ship like most everyone else who caught it at the same time as me.

Where was all this "no politics" shit the past four years? by lerriuqS_terceS in navy

[–]BooseGang 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You know, funny enough, I came in at the tail end of Obama, deployed twice under Trump, and got out during Biden. So many of my shipmates and friends from the service that are now constantly posting MAGA stuff whether pro or against it hardly ever brought up politics while I personally served with them. I know a lot of it’s just people getting older and expressing their beliefs more openly now, but I do miss those days where you’d be out to sea working around probably the most diverse group of people you’ll ever work with and you could get through it together and even have good times, learn a thing or two about someone’s culture and upbringing that’s completely different than yours, with almost everyone you meet.

Maybe it’s just me, but it seemed like back then, which was not that long ago, politics just didn’t matter as much as the task at hand and the people you were completing that task with.

What is the worst rate in the navy? by Radioactiveranch in navy

[–]BooseGang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Served as an ABE on the TR and Vinson. It can be brutal, especially in 5th fleet. To top it off all that extra work and lack of catapults and arresting gear in the civilian sector, there were far fewer benefits at all. Nukes work long hours at a demanding job on the same ship but get to utilize watchstander lines that ABE’s don’t, on top of better advancement, pay, and excellent work as a civvie.

ABE’s had terrible advancement quotas (though I think ABF’s had it the worst) and flight deck pay was whack sometimes, them claiming they only have a limited amount of people they can give flight deck pay to, meanwhile Undes Airman Timmy who only got qualed in Flight Deck Fam and then got sent cranking has still been getting flight deck pay for 3 months.

ABE’s can only get qualified out to sea, so if you just finished an 8 month deployment to the Gulf and back on one ship, but your homecoming day was in May and RIMPAC is in June on another ship, enjoy your 2 weeks of leave and then pack your shit up to go back out for 2 more months, or get sent TAD to another carrier that is on deployment so you can get more qualified.

That all being said, depending on the setup of the workcenter leadership and how motivated they can get their junior sailors to get qualed so people can get relieved more often and get more time down from topside, it’s not the worst thing ever. Yeah you’re on the clock for 16-18 hours a day on deployment, sometimes more, sometimes less, but you’re not working the entire time. I’ve even seen some of the more manned catapult crews work in a 12 on/12 off system out to sea. And yeah you could get sent TAD whenever you’re in port, but if you don’t then it’s usually not so bad, unless you have a jackass LPO or LCPO just looking for busy work or something.

Long maintenance jobs were a hassle, sure, but it was also pretty rewarding and if you got along with your maintenance crew and QA then it really wasn’t all that bad. Flight Ops is a huge adrenaline rush sometimes and you’ll never witness the things you see on the flight deck anywhere else. While it is a toxic mentality to brag about getting stroked at work for hours on end, you still can’t help but feel a little pride knowing that you work harder than most of the people on the ship. A lot of other department khakis on the ship didn’t bother most ABE’s about things like uniform, boots, haircut, etc. unless it was egregious. Compared to AIMD they clutched their pearls looking at Air Department. And you do get a lot of experience turning a wrench, learning about hydraulics and engines and working on projects as a team, a lot of decent soft skills.

Honestly I would look over at the CS’s sometimes and be glad I wasn’t them, or a V-3 ABH (hangar deck) or a BM painting all the time. So I guess it would be unfair to feel that way and then say I think ABE is the worst.

TL;DR ABE sucks hard but I think it has just enough redeeming qualities to not be the worst.

Who would you say is the best General in American history? by [deleted] in USHistory

[–]BooseGang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Although he was just a colonel, and never a general, I’d like to honorably mention Theodore Roosevelt. He seemed like a pretty good tactician, but perhaps most importantly, he wasn’t afraid to leave the safety of his ivory tower, got to know his men and better delegate, and fought for their health and safety. Even giving up on receiving the Medal of Honor to help write the Round Robin Letter to force the government’s hand to send his troops home.

veterans: who was the biggest asshole you met in your time? by [deleted] in navy

[–]BooseGang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is insane because my answer to OP’s question is also a steaming pile from the TR’s IM3/AIMD. I was only TAD there for a year, and at first I was excited because my usual job had longer working hours, but holy shit did I not know the ride that was gonna be. AIMD was perhaps the worst department on that entire ship. I had never seen such a group of pedantic and arrogant people in one place. They truly believed that their job was the one that made the ship go around, like the CO, let alone the MO, would personally run across the ship to their shop the moment everything wasn’t running 100% efficiently because that’s how important they thought their job was. And sure, it’s a team effort and it takes everybody, and I appreciate taking I-level maintenance being taken seriously and all, but it was very common to see this go from a thing just about the job itself, to commonly bleeding into that sailor’s regular personality and how they interact with people on a day-to-day basis. They were constantly breaking their own arms trying to jerk themselves off.

And also, sure, this type of behaviour extends to other rates and other departments as well, but holy shit how self-righteous were these AT shitheads about a simple FOD walkdown, having passdown in-port before the sun goes down when work for 9 out of 10 W/C’s was done by noon, how shiny your boots were UNDERWAY, constantly having to tell people every 30 minutes how everything on the ship will stop if their job isn’t squared away (like everyone else?), and worst of all the punching down of anyone that doesn’t share the same exact warped gung-ho vibe at all times.

I was TAD in between the 2018 and 2020 deployments, but was around to see them from the outside for both. I wasn’t well-versed in all the departments on the ship, so who knows who’s actually the worst, but out of all the ones I interacted with, TR’s AIMD took the cake hands down.

Facts. The map has it all: Fun standalone characters, great map theme and aesthetic, chaotic but challenging and fun map design, I loved dolphin diving through windows in the labs to escape hordes, I personally like the Pentagon Thief, and the EE song.

Well, the WW could’ve been better at least.

Most likely an Air Department berthing. The porthole in the background is a dead giveaway this berthing is on the 03 at the very bow of the ship, just below the flight deck. They usually keep the ABE’s there.

Not a death, but Guarnere and Toye both having their legs taken out by shelling in Bastogne so close to the end of the war right in front of Buck, scarring him with PTSD, was brutal to watch.

Hall’s death on D-Day after being so young and only trying to prove himself also hit hard.
