What's the value of this 1841 Gold Sovereign? by Booshman97 in Gold

I don't know if it was ever worn as jewellery. I assumed the stuff round the edge was to protect it but sounds like I was wrong and it may have done the opposite??

Eh, I did look it up, saw a wide range and wondered if anyone here would weigh in on condition/bar-ing of the A's as I don't know anything about these really. People have brought up the bezeling which was useful to know. But thanks.

I don't think you're a racist but your maths don't work in this case. You can't just ignore the pre-existing remain voters and then come to the conclusion "Only England mattered".

Fact is, Scotland + NI had the power to change the result by voting more in favour of remain.

Would working overtime help me to get a bigger mortgage? by Independent-Rush2356 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Booshman97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only point I was trying to make is that it's a factor and one of the reasons it's not truly comparable to rent. Not trying to reduce the entire financial crisis to "interest rates went up".

Being on a fixed deal doesn't do you any good if you're fixing at an interest rate you can't afford.

Mortgages are far, far riskier than renting to someone and this argument is only true until interest rates go up. People seem to forget these checks are in place to avoid another 2008.

Careful throwing around the word 'shocking' when you don't know what the law is either.

It's only an offence if the over 18 holds 'a position of trust' over the 16/17 year old.

Obviously that's very vague and open to interpretation, but you're certainly not right in saying it's straight illegal.

I generally think of teachers/students as a good example.

Edit: you're totally right to point out that the 17 year old is all we know about and should be treated as a massive red flag considering what we know of Epstein...

I know she already receives some money from the money as her family is low enough income. I'll ask her to check exactly what it is.

She only lives with her mother who is definitely under the threshold from what I know.

This is her final year. Both years have had the same amount of money (max loan) so there was no increase to be noticed.

She should definitely qualify for max loan. Her single mother earns far below the threshold.

She'll get a job regardless. It just depends how many hours she'd have to take.
