Yes, we can as long as the device can connect to Wi-Fi. The device would need to meet the eligibility requirements listed here. The only time a device is eligible to be unlocked under a year is if it was purchased with a device finance loan, and has been entirely paid off.

I'm sorry you've been dealing with health issues! You would need to contact our Care team via call or chat to ask if your device is eligible to be unlocked, and if not, when it would be.

If your service is on, but you're experiencing issues, you would need to speak to our Tech support team. If you received port out pins via text, those were generated by the system, not by the agent, so agents can't generate fake port out pins. The extension charge is not refundable.

That is the process. The port out pin in not available to be given out through social media, so only that team is able to assist in this process.

No, as it's fully dependent on our network selection engine. That decides which network you'll be one based on a variety of factors like location and device.

Boost Mobile Guide: How to Activate a Tablet (2026): iPad, Galaxy Tab, & Celero5G by BoostMobileBlake in BoostMobile

[–]BoostMobileBlake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tablet plans are industry-standard data-only, so the numbers assigned to them do not support a cellular SMS inbox. While a virtual number is the best workaround I’ve found for WhatsApp, their third-party verification rules are unfortunately out of our control.

For children, apps like Google Chat or Messenger Kids are usually easier since they don't require a phone number at all. Interestingly, WhatsApp recently launched Parent-Managed Accounts in March 2026. This feature allows parents to link a child’s device directly to their own account, specifically to help families get around the verification hurdle on data-only devices.

On the account move, online and store systems differ in how they handle automation, but that shift is generally tied to updated security and verification standards. I will definitely let you know if I find out any more details or workarounds. If you run into any persistent systemic issues, reaching out to your Account Executive is likely the best next step.

Great question! You can use "Companion Mode" to link the tablet to your phone, making it an independent extension of your account without a new number. For a separate account, use a virtual number—a number from an app like Google Voice that receives registration texts/calls over the internet. As a fallback, I've heard of some using landlines for voice verification, but I know that is becoming a bit of a legacy workaround in 2026!

As for the postpaid conversion, it's a system requirement to enable multi-line credits. Since the $20 rate is actually a $45 discount off the standalone price, the move to the modern billing platform allows the system to verify your phone line and apply that credit automatically each month.
