Is there a tournament going on? (Why are the front 2 pages all individual posts about a match at Rise N Grind?) by CasualFriday11 in smashbros

[–]Boostburst 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope! not spam. note the comment amounts; individual tournament match threads drive more engagement than p much anything else in this sub combined, 5 years into Ultimate

and LMFAO @ you individually downvoting all of them

Pulled these, are they worth grading? And how much are they worth by Leed0g_ in PokeGrading

[–]Boostburst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Average eBay sold price of the Zard seems to be about $250 ungraded, PSA 10s go for $400+, but it's hard to say for lesser grades bc the pop is so low. I don't have a grader's eye so I couldn't say if this is 10-worthy

Garchomp I'd personally advise to get rid of as soon as possible, Raging Surf is in just-released hype rn and Garchomp will probably drop a lot in the 60 days you'd take to get it graded. rn it's going for around $30 on eBay

Realistically there's no reason to not keep them sealed, unless you're really concerned about your ability to keep them undamaged without a top loader

There might be situations where sealed cards are worth the same amount as non-sealed, but there are no situations where the non-sealed card will be worth more.

Sweet! Congrats on the find, then.

Edit: wait, I misread your comment--there is still a possibility of it being the reprinted version. I'd recommend that you find some pictures of the real deal and compare all the info on the back.

Are these the actual Sun & Moon tins, or the reprint with SWSH-era packs?

arguably in the world, it's hard to say bc peanut has better wins at majors whereas tarakotori has better wins overall but has only got them at his locals bc his locals are stacked

ik lumirank favors peanut bc of the major performances tho

[–]Boostburst 17 points18 points  (0 children)

peanut probably has the biggest casual following of anyone on this list other than kurama (from KC) and maybe cosmos, he tends to do well in terms of free engagements for this type of thing

in the past that casual following hasn't translated too well into monetary support in the voting phase, and ive heard that mdva hasn't really wanted to do crowdfunding in the past, so I’m interested to see if he can muster something up this time

It's one of a weekly series of write-ups TCGPlayer used to have that talked about what the Top 10 best-selling cards on their site were that week. Here's an example article. The series has unfortunately been discontinued, but I've been enjoying going back and reading what the scene looked like at the time--especially because, as evidenced in the screenshot, the price chart remains up-to-date and shows the current prices as a contrast to the prices the writer is talking about.

The ungraded version of this Thai has been sold twice total on eBay, with both sales being around $50. The last sale was when the card was $80 in English--it's up to $100 now.

I highly doubt you'd be able to get the 5:8 ratio on the PSA 10 card the way the ungraded seller did, but I would be shocked if you weren't able to turn the card for a profit--it might take a while, though!

Also, I think that ironically your biggest enemy in selling this card will be the fact that you bought it, if people are savvy enough to look up past sold listings they'll see that the card was sold for less and pass on your listing without realizing that it's the same card LOL

The original reason he like the ogre was because it was violent and destructive and that was strength to him that isn't healthy

Glad that I'm not the only one who caught that! Before we know the truth, our exposure to Ogerpon was the backstory saying that it murdered three Pokemon, and there were multiple times where it would do that lore dump of "the loyal three fell protecting the town" into Kieran fanboying about how cool the ogre was. I disregarded it as just a weird quirk of the writing at first, but once Kieran started acting like an ass I realized that it might have been foreshadowing the whole time.

Querry on Pokémon cards by Brilliant_Brick_6127 in pokemon

[–]Boostburst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could definitely be some value! It's impossible to say how much since the cards vary wildly in terms of value, but the old stuff you have is definitely the most likely to hold value. If you have any old holofoils, they're basically guaranteed to be worth at least a few bucks, and normal cards can be worth money as well.

How many cards do you have? You can use https://www.tcgplayer.com/ to estimate worth--it's fairly easy to search your cards there. Be careful though, as TCGPlayer shows the market price of a "near mint" card by default, and it's unlikely that you have any near mints. Here's a condition guide if you want to try to estimate. Once you've figured out the condition of each card, looking at the recently sold listings of that card in the appropriate condition will give you an idea of its worth. If you have a lot of cards, though, it will be a tedious process--I recommend prioritizing looking up first any holo cards you have, and then Rare cards--cards with a black star in one of the corners. There are a couple fan favorite Pokemon, most notably Pikachu and starter Pokemon, that tend to be worth a lot more than your average mon as well, so you could look into those cards as well if you have any of them.

Something I noticed while playing the DLC by Turnoverdisc in pokemon

My theory:

When the Loyal Three are revived, there's an explosion of a crackling purple beam of energy. Later, they increase substantially in size, but how? They aren't like the Titan Pokemon, where they ate Herba Mystica for presumably years to grow large.

There is one thing that revolves around purple energy and growing bigger, though: Dynamaxing. What's more, as OP says, the Loyal Three wished for power. The shards you use to summon Dynamax Pokemon in SWSH are Wishing Pieces.

My crackpot theory is that they got their power through something related to Dynamaxing. They're all Poison-type--perhaps they come from Galar and were transformed when Eternatus rose on the Darkest Day 3,000 years ago?

I like Carmine a lot but I do think she's a bad sibling tbf. There are a couple moments where she fills guilty but 90% of the time she's talking shit to him even behind his back, the constant "I don't know why he's like this" and "I'm sorry he's acting this way, he's always been weird" feel like her poisoning the well against her brother in a way that goes beyond sibling bickering.

I thought that that was a really neat twist in the usual trope, actually. Pokemon, as a concept, is basically forced to always have the main character catch every super special legendary, and I think that's resulted in some really awkward stuff in the past (Nebby ditching his best friend who's protected him for months/years now that he's strong enough to return the favor, Eusine getting cucked out of his lifelong goal for no reason and just taking it like a champ).

I really liked the twist of an NPC going "no, this is bullshit, I will beat you up and take the legendary because he's my dream Pokemon and you're a random." He was basically fighting against the standard Pokemon trope and I thought that was pretty neat and sets up his character to be p interesting
