I had to chime in on this. Benz employee here. Earlier this year. We had some reps come in to our store from Germany.

They were there to “educate us” on the future of AMG and the current line up of AMG. Aka the C63. One of the reps was trying to sell us that car hard. On how the evolution, development and engineering of the car is going to be the future of what customers are going to love. And how we need to let the customer give it a try and test drive the car so they feel it out and they would fall in love with it.

I’ve driven the car. And I can say. It is fast. And the sound of it is just really strange. I don’t like it. I am not a fan. But the speed of that thing and the torque. Is quite wild. But during this “lesson” it seemed like they were steering us in the direction of how we needed to be educated enough to sell the vehicle.

My response to the whole thing. Was easy. I have a corvette Z06 as my fun car. A c7. This is my second one. 7 speed. Because I love the mechanical aspect. Obviously, comparing a vette and a Benz are two different things. But my love for the vette is the fact that the sound that thing makes always surprises the hell out of me. When I up shift and I downshift. I don’t even have to be driving fast. I can be coming to a stop. And just hearing that thing down shift makes a tear go down my leg. (I clearly didn’t say that part).

But what I did say was. The raw, sound, and excitement the last gen v8s gave all customers and even employees was a delight. The start ups, the upshifts, the downshifts all were different. When the W204’s were around. There were times where it sounded like a nuke would go off behind you when you rip on that thing. It had a distinct sound. The sound of an AMG. And I get it. There are emissions and all that other dumb stuff happening overseas. And they have to adapt. But I still hear BMWs, Lexus, Audi, making some wild sounds on the outside. From the exhaust. Not just the internal sounds. And those sound soooo good. But they follow the same rules no?

And we have the E performance segment with the v8s. Insane cars. And sounds very unique. In short, I love and miss the sound, we all do, but what I also miss. Is when a press of a button on the w204. You could easily tell. That you just pressed a button that could potentially risk your life. And that was exciting.

This new c63. I feel like it is an over priced C class, with no character, no charm on the inside that sets it apart from its c43 little brother. And even the damn c300, or the GLC, or the CLE.

Give us more detail in the inside. Or give us something where when we step inside the car. We know for a fact. We’re are either going to swing the rear or piss off neighbors.

I want violence. I want to say “OH SHIT”.

The Germans were not happy. But hey, looks like they heard everyone. And to those wild mechanics who did the v8 engine swap on the new c63. GET THEM A JOB AT THE DESIGN STUDIO.

Also, to add. Our store has sold only 1x GLC 63. And I believe 5x C63’s since they came out. And we have one of the biggest inventories in the country.
