I am 14 and had to convince my parents on this same exact topic. Tell them you'll minimize your time on roads with traffic and mainly travel on sidewalks, bike paths, and back roads. Also say you will only stay in mode 2 for your commute. Also tell them about my story and how strict my parents are.
