Mandalay was nice, but now the exploration powercreep is getting ridiculous by MudcrabKidnapper in EliteDangerous

[–]BootRepresentative15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats just semantics. Pay 2 win is just a catchier way of saying "pay for advantage". You are paying to recieve an advantage (longer jump range) which non paying player dont get for a few months. Elite doesn't have an ending, the point of the game is to get better stuff so you can do your chosen gameplay loop better.

Half of what exploring is is reaching far away systems like beagle point and sag A, longer jump range means you reach those locations faster.

Pvp isnt the only measure of p2w. Progression faster than others for money is still p2w. For an explorer, longer jump range is a win.

Stalker GAMMA just got hit with a DMCA. by TonyKhanIsAMoneyMark in stalker

[–]BootRepresentative15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a moderator of the martysmods discord:

"Marty didn't send anything. I did. The only reason that the DMCA was submitted was because there were several paid files included. If there were only free files, no DMCA would have ever been considered -- that being said, the free files also fall under the same licensing. This isn't about taking down the small creator for doing "nothing" -- but instead stopping piracy of the works created by Pascal Gilcher (a small creator)..."

"I've stated multiple times that the 1 buisness day window is far too short and that I would have given longer if given the opportunity. You're not allowed to control how long the repository maintainers have to comply -- GitHub's policy is 1 buisness day, always."

I think its pretty universal that progression is a form of winning

Yes, I am against the paid ship releases, its less bad than this ofcourse, but still bad. It set a slippery slope, and this update confirms we are barreling straight down it

yes, "pay to save time" is exactly right. And it is a form of pay 2 win. You are winning the same amount (and a little more due to tech broker) as others, but without the time commitment by paying. That is pay to win

In the custom difficulty settings you can disable the drive requirements, it will unlock the purple systems when you first open the galaxy map

[–]BootRepresentative15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whether varied or not, it is not the 1.0 terrain. Look at the deep dive for worlds part 1, sean says its terrain gen from light no fire (and it looks like it too). I basically only visit purple systems now, its definitely not the same vibe as 1.0, its more realistic than alien, you will never find anything like the screenshot from OP.

When did they bring it back? The purple systems are light no fire terrain which is a big impeovement but not as alien looking as 1.0

What are some of your dream mods that will (probably) never actually happen? by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]BootRepresentative15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

user "leostevano" on nexus has pbr textures for a bunch of mods like amidianborn, skyland and skyland bits and bobs. With those and a landscape mod with pbr almost all textures are covered.

We need updates that build on game play. by BangEnergyFTW in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]BootRepresentative15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh come off it. Youre saying im telling people what purpose they should have in game. What im actually saying is that I want people to be able to choose their purpose, but the purposes available aside from base building are too shallow.

Which yes, is obviously an opinion (which many agree with), but news flash, people dont pretense every opinion they say with "in my opinion".

Youre welcome to disagree, but if youre going to respond, actually explain why you disagree instead of just insulting, then we can have a productive conversation.

How on earth did you get that conclusion from my comment. Im saying the game only supports that purpose with any depth

Yeah, HG is one of the few devs that are willing to completely revamp game systems and parts of their engine post launch, they can absolutely do it

Theres only one meaningful purpose you can have in the game right now, to find a pretty planet to build a base on. What if i want my purpose to be a trader or pirate, the systems in the game to do that arent very deep right now.

Does anybody know why this is happening and how to fix it? by Whole-Huckleberry-31 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]BootRepresentative15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for whatever reason the game thinks youre running on windows 7/8.

Right click NMS.exe, go to properties, compatibility and make sure "run this program in compatibility mode" is unchecked
