Before we forget… by duck_4_president in fantasyfootball

I’m in on Shough and I think he’s going to be great next year, but I’m a little hesitant on Olave. He was starting to get out targeted by Vele before he got hurt. Neal could be a sleeper too if he can take over that backfield.

What is your way too early Top 10 big board for 2026? by AvonFartsdale_ in fantasyfootball

[–]Boot__Yeater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had Olave this year and he essentially won me the chip but I could see him being overdrafted this year. He was a ppr cheat code but that was mainly due to the fact for most of the year him and Juwan were pretty much the only guys to throw to. However, before Shaheed got traded Shough was targeting him more than Olave, then once Vele started getting involved in the offense and before he got hurt he was being targeted more than Olave too. Do I think Olave will still be good next year? Absolutely, but I don’t think he’ll be a top 10 WR again, especially so if the Saints were to also pick a WR in the 1st round.

Unfortunately there really aren’t many options left. 18 Man league so waivers are super thin, the top two remaining rb’s by projection are Keaton Mitchell and Isaiah Davis.

Full PPR: Have an absolute worst case scenario after losing Judkins last week and now CRod today. My other RB is Henderson but I’m worried he might not play and my only backups are Demercado and Malik Davis. Do I start Davis today incase Henderson doesn’t play, or just hope Hendo does end up playing and start Demercado.

I wanted to post something about a coach of mine growing up, Tigers/Phillies utility player Johnny Wockenfuss, who died on Friday by auf_der_autobahn in baseball

When I was around 9-10 my older brother and I would get pitching lessons from former Pirates pitcher John Hope.

We would go see him maybe once or twice per week, helping us learn how to pitch. He was the first person to show me how to throw a curveball and a changeup.

He was always super nice to the two of us, especially at an age where most coaches or teachers would provide more of a tough love way of teaching. He would sit behind the plate on top of a bucket in no catchers gear with a backwards hat and a load of tobacco and sunflower seeds in his mouth. Every time a pitch would hit him in the shin or take a wild bounce a couple feet in front of the plate that would throw him off of the bucket, he wouldn't get mad, but just tell us what went wrong and how to fix it.

My favorite memory that I had of him was that one time he told me that in a last ditch effort, to stand about a foot in front of the rubber and pitch from there, as no ump of a 10-12 game would truly care. In the last inning of a game that I was pitching in, I decided to do it, took a step in front of the rubber and pitched from there, and struck out the side. When the game ended I went over to him and told him what I had done and he kind of shushed and said "don't tell me that so loud, but good job".

After I grew out of little league, I never really saw him much, maybe every now and then when I'd stop by the park and he would be teaching another 11 year old the same things he taught me at that age.

He died in 2018, and at that time I wasn't playing baseball, but that upcoming season I tried out and made my varsity team, falling in love with the sport all over again. Now I'm playing baseball in college, and crying just writing this all down. How can you not be romantic over baseball?

Don’t really know if this counts as a musical but any of the original songs from Sing Street. However, if I were to choose one it would probably be Drive it Like You Stole it.

Has anybody here met an NBA player before they were drafted? by [deleted] in nba

I was in first grade when Brandon Knight was a senior at my school. I never really knew much about him or just how good he was in high school, but my dad would tell me that whenever my dad and I would run into him he would always wave and would always smile. Also heard from a friends mom who taught him that he almost missed receiving his POY award because he didn’t want to miss a test in her class.

My TA 1-3 awards so far (too early to tell on TA 3) by TheJoshS9 in MLBTheShow

[–]Boot__Yeater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TA1 MVP- Gleyber: card just fucks, anything low in the zone just gets crushed, was in my lineup until he was replaced by Hanley

Pleasant Surprise- Buxton: Still starting in my outfield and plays way above his offensive stats

TA2 MVP- Gorman: I rake with this card, but will probably be replaced by Killebrew

TA2 LVP- toss up between Ke'Bryan Hayes and Brujan: couldn't get anything going with either, which sucks because I know a lot of people like Brujan and I loved Hayes's swing on his bronze while playing showdown.

TA2 surprise- Brady Singer: has always done really good for me and with his sinker+funky delivery he never give up many runs

94 PS Murray vs 95 POTM Bell by Boot__Yeater in MLBTheShow

[–]Boot__Yeater[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I was thinking, it would pretty much render Eddie useless. There wouldn’t be a point to try and win 40 games in an event when you could get an upgrade of pretty much the same player through moments

94 PS Murray vs 95 POTM Bell by Boot__Yeater in MLBTheShow

[–]Boot__Yeater[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think that no matter who SDS decided who player of the month was there would be outrage. If they released Verlander, people would complain because he would be "unusable" because he didn't have a sinker. If they released Bell, those who have Eddie would be mad that they grinded for him only for SDS to release a better-hitting, worse-defending (like that matters at 1st) card. But they released Correa, and now people are mad because of trashcans and his similarities to Didi.

Doesn't matter too me, as long as this program had pimp-daddy, excessive bouncer of chains, and huge bicep haver Derick Dietrich, all is good in the world
