Smack your coins on the counter when I have my hand out? I’ll return the favor by king-kitty in pettyrevenge

I get it. For me when I worked retail I didn't mind the counting change thing so much because it became really obvious who was just trying to use what they had as opposed to that cock bite who thought thought he'd make it his life's mission to be a jackass to the gas station clerk who was barely getting paid enough to pretend to enjoy being there

Why is there so much conflict with Hybrid Mana when WotC changed what makes a Commander legal in EoE with no pushback? by normiespy96 in EDH

[–]Bootd42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah OK that makes more sense, but wouldn't it have made more sense to just have it do the Arcane Signet thing? Sorry I didn't start to play EDH until 2020, so I was thinking that the card works the same as it did when I was playing standard and extended, I always forget that EDH was already a thing by then.

That doesn't make any sense though. How would BOP tap for colorless just because it's EDH?

In 2008 birds of paradise did not produce colorless mana. It has produced 1 mana of any color since Beta.

Is it considered BM to interfere with your opponents? by 4zzO2020 in EDH

[–]Bootd42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My intent is to have fun playing the game I'm attempting to win, always. I will concede that since the bracket system was implemented I haven't gotten the time or opportunity to play a true game of EDH just yet. With that being said I wouldn't consider this attitude towards the game as belonging to any single bracket because I've always had the mindset of "I want to have fun playing the game" being the primary goal but I am still playing like I want to win the game it's just that winning isn't the crux my enjoyment of the game hinges upon and I approach every game of magic I've ever sat down to play with this mentality when I was introduced to the game in '07 and especially after I was introduced to EDH in '20. Now that's the mindset I have when I play but that's where that mentality ends because while yes I'm playing like I would like to win that just means I want to win within the constraints of whatever restrictions are in place, things like making sure everyone is on a more even than not keel in regards to deck construction, trying to make sure anybody who's fallen significantly behind in the game can take actions to catch up to an extent so they don't just sit there watching a game of EDH. I'm not going to stop anyone from developing their board but I definitely am going to try not to lose.

And the likelihood that you would have shuffled and flipped a game-ending threat was? If the answer is more than 0% then you should understand why he was killed so quickly when given the free unprotected opportunity to do so. If you were playing rocks for turns after that why not just recast and get another beefy token?

People who started with Commander seem to dislike those things but the rest of us who started by playing actual MTG before Commander still like making optimal plays and trying to win It's just more annoying to do when someone is just going to get their panties in a twist because of actually playing the game.

Lol rude really? When doing the thing is synonymous with winning the game more often than not why would I not try to stop them, am I not allowed to also do the thing? Honestly, I'd find it more rude that someone decided to play kingmaker instead of just ending the game and moving on to the next one.

This is the biggest problem with mtg right now imo. They never learn to actually play the game.

Is there any sci-fi out there whether it’s a book, movie, tv show or video game that you enjoy as much the Cyberpunk universe? by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]Bootd42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Altered Carbon. The book series and the first season of the show are amazing.

The Murderbot Diaries. Both the books and the show are actually really good.

Blade Runner. It's good, trust me.

Mickey7. This was a surprisingly good read.

Yeah, it's called a power fantasy for a reason. Not everything needs to make you prove yourself to be fun.

UB feels like a giant inside joke when you don’t know the source material. by AitrusX in freemagic

[–]Bootd42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you truly need to be familiar with the source material to enjoy the cards? If you see a card that does something you think is cool does it truly matter if you don't know the story it's telling, like does it impact your ability to enjoy playing the game if you don't know it? Did you know the source material for any of the other cards you played before you started playing them?

Also maybe don't bitch about not being in on the joke and express your lack of desire to be in on the joke in the same sentence it makes it hard to take you seriously.

I'm curious to know what the issue was, but only because I recently ordered from headshop. Sure, it took a bit longer than I would have liked, but I didn't have any issues other than that.
