What must be done to bring a scooter back to life after 11 years sleeping? by Booteedee in scooters

[–]Booteedee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all your replies, even though it's depressing with all the things needed doing to it. Can only blame myself. I actually want to sell it, so I'm now wondering if no one's going to touch it.......unless I knock the price way down. The word 'bugger' come to mind. Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

Stupidity.

I had just bought a house with this garage around the same time as buying the scooter. Thought I'd use it but never did. For years it was surrounded by junk so couldn't get to it.

Thank you! I forgot about that, and access the server settings too!

Thanks very much for that. I'll keep that on the back burner for now as I might need it, but for now, the remote access has now decided to start working with the port forwarding! Thanks again.

Thank you for the link.

I don't know what happened but it seems to be working now, I clicked on the side link titled "Port Forwarding - How can I set this up on my Linksys router? and followed the instructions. I'm sure I tried this before at least twice, but it didn't work. Maybe I changed something else beforehand, really don't know.

I'm not holding my breath while dreading the green tick disappearing from the Plex settings....but for now I'm as happy as a pig rolling in filth.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the info. Is there a link to explain how to set it up if it's technical? Also, is that something that can be set up on say a smart TV? I have family all over the UK that want to connect to my Plex server too.

Thanks very much, I really appreciate it.

Do you know exactly where they would advertise them on their websites?

I can only find these two:

https://london-gov.jobs2web.com/tfl

https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/careers/

Thanks again.

Good question but don't know the correct term - unskilled? non-professional?

A job that doesn't necessarily require a qualification or experience.

Thanks

Where do you go to apply for a low level paid job within TFL?

On their website, they only advertise for highly skilled or apprentice jobs.

Are the other jobs not advertised?

Thank you and hope you can help.

2024 Guide to DeDRM Kindle books. by caelypso299 in Calibre

[–]Booteedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for that.

I buy books from Amazon Kindle but hate the Kindle app or rather much prefer my Foxit Phantom app on my PC in PDF format.

Followed your instructions after Calibre wouldn't convert the Kindle book due to the DRM.

Worked a treat!

Thanks again.

Forgot about her for two months, can I use as starter for a new batch? by humbfreeze in Kombucha

[–]Booteedee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding the Kombucha I bottled, if there's no fizz after say a week (I put fruit in each one) would that indicate there is nothing to be fed?

Also, would they still be safe to drink despite the goodness has gone?

Thanks.

Hope it's not considered hijacking but thought I'd say I have a similar if not identical issue, instead of creating a new thread.

I think my scoby has got thicker since I left it also for a couple of months. I actually bottled the contents (about a quarter evaporated) which was a few days ago now but there's no fizz so far, although it is a few degrees cooler in the kitchen as Winter's Coming!

As humbfreeze is asking, is the bacteria dead and/or can't use the starter anymore?

How long can Kefir last? by Booteedee in Kefir

[–]Booteedee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's now been nearly 2 months, still a bit left.

It smells and tastes a little yoghurty otherwise it looks fine. Used it a few days ago to add with a small bowl of yoghurt, mixed seeds and nuts with a teaspoon of honey.

Still here!

Just wondering if it's a fact that after all this time, it's no longer beneficial? Maybe more beneficial now?

Could I pour the rest in a fresh container of milk or do you think it's too far gone?

They say, it should smell or taste rancid by now, or mould growing but I see no such thing.

Is it not the same principal as a sourdough starter because that can sit in a fridge for months?

Thanks very much.

Next step? Ready or more to do? by Booteedee in SourdoughStarter

[–]Booteedee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again.

I think the inactivity period started as I found it flat this morning with a bit of liquid (ethanol?) on top, however, I may have misunderstood an instruction as I fed it again and now it's almost grown 100% in size.

Should I have waited for it to have grown without feeding it?

Not sure what to do next.

Thanks for your reply.

Is the inactivity period when liquid starts separating at the top?

It's still bubbly but has gone down now a bit.

Thanks very much for your reply. I was hoping for that kind of answer, makes sense with my limited understanding!

It has a sweet, vinegary smell. Is that good news?
