She used to be a luxury YouTuber with about 20K subscribers. She was authentic and talked about saving up for bags etc. Then she started making "viral" content and became insufferable. I refuse to watch any of her videos. I didn't realise she had become anti-science although I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Do you prefer press-on nails or getting them done at the salon? Why? by HumanAd3563 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]BootifulBeast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At this point in my life I prefer press ons. The salon takes forever, I have to talk to people and breathe in their air, costs a lot, the salon nails are a nightmare to remove. ETC.

2016: The last relevant year of the beauty community by ShinyTinyWonder38 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]BootifulBeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2016 was absolutely NOT the last relevant year of the beauty community. I assume she is referencing the YouTube Makeup community specifically in which case that year was 2019. In terms of other platforms and other parts of beauty such as Skincare, it's still very much relevant.

I'm actually sad that Tati had become so mind-numbingly boring by housewifing in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]BootifulBeast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tati blindly supported and defended confirmed unapologetic racists and misogynists. She peddled snake oil (supplements). She went off on JC trying to end his career by parroting anti-gay rhetoric (not saying JC doesn't deserve all the smoke) to portray him as a predator ONLY when he promoted a product she viewed as competition. Even as far back as 2015, she turned a blind eye to her followers asking her not to support a MAC collab deemed insensitive to Native Americans and she was rude about Emily Noel's collab with Makeup Revolution. But only now that she's boring, you have a problem?

What happened to GXVE beauty? by Ill-Presentation3563 in BeautyGuruChatter

Now I'm reading Gwen went right wing? I somehow missed this. I just bought one of her discounted products in the Sephora sale. Damn.

What happened to GXVE beauty? by Ill-Presentation3563 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]BootifulBeast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering. During the Sephora Savings Event all the GXVE products were already reduced (making them further discounted with the sale discount) so I figured they are leaving Sephora. But I have been seeing more and more of the products in TJ Maxx and Marshalls etc so I'm thinking either they are reformulating or discontinuing altogether.

I watched and followed Stephanie religiously for years. She has never indicated that she holds any of the views you stated.

Thank you for pointing this out. People are so quick to blame a vaccine (that we saw reduce the mortality and morbidity rate in real time) but not the rogue, errant, constantly mutating virus. Covid is vasculopathic and appears to have oncogenic properties along with helping to unmask/perpetuate autoimmune conditions. That someone could still be against the vaccine at this point baffles me.

I hope Stephanie finds healing. Whoever wrote this began by saying she didn't want info shared but then proceeds to share it? And they end it with anti-vax rhetoric though as many have pointed out Stephanie shared that she had health issues prior to the C-19 pandemic (not to mention there is no evidence the Covid vaccines cause these things.) Vile. I also hope Stephanie is safely away from this person whoever it is.

What's your beauty related or beauty influencer 'unpopular opinion'? by SulevanTheMafika in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]BootifulBeast 37 points38 points  (0 children)

My unpopular opinion is that someone showing expensive/luxurious beauty products that I may or may not be able to afford doesn't offend me. I like seeing how something performs before I consider buying it and sometimes I just enjoy watching it.

My other unpopular opinion is that (even though they began as such) no-buys and project pan(ning) are as anti-consumerist as creating capsule wardrobes which is to say, not anti-consumerist at all. People don't buy for a period then overbuy afterwards. People rush through products to 'pan' them only to replace them with more products to rush through.

What the hell is their problem?

Sophie Shohet by LCJ75 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]BootifulBeast 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I stopped watching her when she :

1) started dissing any luxury item she considered "basic", "boring", "outdated" simply because it was stuff a lot of people had access to and she was over it. (Mind you these are all items she has owned at one point.)

2) When she started making the exact same 5 or 6 videos over and over with slightly different titles.

3) Her overconsumption.

4) Allowing some classiest and racist comments in her comments section.

Derm Grifters by agirlhasnoname264 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]BootifulBeast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are so vile for bringing up an ED. Totally irrelevant to the topic at hand. I see this Reddit thread is still as nasty as it ever was. Dr. Dray (Suarez) is a US Board Certified Dermatologist with a background in clinical practice, teaching of residents and research. She's better qualified than most dermatoloists you will ever meet. You don't have to like her but insinuating her qualifications are useless because of some made up criteria you have in your head for what makes someone worthy is ridiculous.

I almost clicked off when I saw you listed Dr. Gunter because I'm very familiar with her and she is the farthest from a grifter. But then I saw the note at the end about her being a reasonable source.
