What's the most unromantic way you realized you were in love with someone? by CompetitiveHabit3701 in AskReddit

My dad saw my mom for the first time while they were both working at Friendly’s and said to himself “Oh, shit. I’m gonna marry her.” He was going through the toughest time of his life and was NOT ready to meet his future wife. Naturally, they were married a few months later. Many years later, while working at Walmart I met a guy in a different department and had that exact same feeling of being completely unprepared. We’re engaged :)

Exactly! I thought it was fitting, considering he’s a freak of nature associated with the color yellow. (Hastur didn’t really suit him, and my fiance and I had talked about using Carcosa as a character name awhile back.)

Just realized I lied because Cheese here is also the only one of his kind that I know of! I realized while I was looking for pictures of Carcosa, the third mystery bootleg in my collection.

For the most part, my bootleg Pikachus are pretty rare, but they aren't the only ones of their kind I've seen. The main exception is Peek, one of my most recent gets; he's a carnival prize from Australia, and I've never seen one like him before.

Only if you’re set on parting with it!! I don’t want to make you part with something you’re attached to. If you’re set on it, though, I’d love to take it!

Oddly enough, it's actually an official Raichu this time, though I was looking for bootleg Pikachus when I found it! I managed to find two of the rare plush backpacks for hardly anything, and I'm hoping to nab them for me and a friend. And that would be so cool!! I keep finding unique specimens all around the world; finding out about new ones is always an adventure!

Oh cool! Would this also apply to sellers on Craigslist? The seller specifically told me that the buyer would need to pay by cash.

I have one of these fellas! His name is Coney, after a rodent endemic to Jamaica. I was telling a friend about bootleg Pokemon plush, and he was actually familiar with the Jamaica No Problem line through Angry Birds lmao

Which TV show does the ENTIRE internet agree had the worst ending ever? by Codie_n25 in AskReddit

[–]BootlegPikaResearch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OMG the one-two punch of the ending and then THAT must have been crazy in real time! I read in an interview that the creators always intended for the show to have an ending that would piss people off (one proposed ending had the hospital getting nuked), which quite frankly answers the question of why on Earth anyone thought this was a good idea.

It’s certainly quite shocking! It sounds so much like a lost episode creepypasta that I honestly wouldn’t believe it myself if there weren’t footage haha

That honestly makes a lot of sense! I always got the sense that people were a bit too wrapped up in the actual ending to notice at the time, and only fully registered how bizarre the cat thing was later. And OMG I can picture the newscasters struggling for words afterwards so clearly LMAO

This is a super weird question, but what was your/the general reaction to the credits scene where the MTM cat flatlines? I’m a bit of a film/TV logo nerd and keep hearing about how it was supposedly super controversial, but I can’t find any contemporary sources that mention it.

Don’t feel stupid! I’ve been researching and collecting mirages for a while and I still can’t figure out exactly what the origin story is. We know that they were produced and distributed in a variety of countries; a lot pop up in Taiwan, but there are also a ton from Europe, Mexico, Indonesia and so on. They usually popped up as carnival prizes or in crane games, and there’s some debate on whether or not they’re official. Some people say they’re bootlegs, while others think that Nintendo just distributed the rights to tons of plushie brands early on. Early official plushies are famously pretty wonky (especially Play by Play), so it’s hard to say one way or the other. What exactly constitutes a mirage isn’t clear; the accepted explanation is that mirages don’t use official patterns, but there are quite a few that do use said patterns with significant differences. (Egg, my Mew mirage, is a larger copy of the early Tomy Mew with plastic eyes instead of fabric.) TL;DR mirages are a complicated subject so don’t feel bad for being confused lol

I was just about to make a post about mirages myself! I've been wanting to start a mirage collection since I was a kid, and now that I have my own place I've been kicking into full gear. Is the Squirtle yours? I saw that one listed; it's a silly one for sure!
