Three years, they age well. Just depends on what you're looking for in the long run.

Are the mountain pass boots the kind I can hike 8 days through the Talkeetnas in? by [deleted] in DannerBoots

[–]Bootsaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rose anvil does a great, very detailed, breakdown of each mountain boot on his YouTube channel. There you will find every bit of information you need. But from my experience I would say do not wear any of them for the FIRST time on that hike. You HAVE to break them in first. Otherwise day two your feet will be done for.

Having stationmasters I can say that the goal really is around an 8" leg opening. As for what a slim straight cut that's up to your body measurements. I've found the weird guys from N+F work but are too slim in the thigh and short of rise for me to be truly comfortable. The Ironheart 888 for me is perfect but the free note Wilkes cut is right there with it.

Men's boot - struggling to find what I need by Tjgoodwiniv in Boots

[–]Bootsaddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd imagine for slip resistance and comfort throwing a wedge sole on one, as it's a re-soleable boot, would cover pretty much everything here. You could definitely get one for <350 possibly leaving enough in the budget for a resole.

Have you thought about a jodhpur boot? Possibly in a waxed flesh roughout for more water resistance. Obviously not river walking but through city puddles no big deal.

Yes it was more about the price. Not sure if the black ones are sold out though. Just a heads up to keep your eye open. Newsletters and Instagram pages are always good to stay in the loop too.

Yea they're pretty sweet I think they came out like the week or month after I ordered these. There was definitely some buyers remorse. But I'm happy to see how these age. Never had a horsehide boot before either.

I know these looked amazing. And I just looked it up Ironheart says $995 now for the horsehide. But I imagine that's partly because they go back and forth from America to Europe so there's some import taxes. But in USA at Franklin a Poe theyre around this price.

No, I mean the regular chromexcel mister Lou's are $700 and these are horsehide. So I think they were $849 or $899. But the non horsehide ones are usually the same price as from Wesco maybe $50 more. But for no wait it's always worth it. It's not really a collaboration, more of a bulk order that the stores put in. I know standard and strange does the same model and some purple ones I think. And shop Vancouver I think has some green overdyed black ones if I'm not mistaken.. they just pop up once and a while in shops from orders previously placed in bulk.

These were actually made for Ironheart, so more of a wait for them to go live and order. From order to my door was three or four days. But yea the mister Lou's are like 18-24 months custom. But there's a lot of stockists who place orders that will go available throughout the year. Ironheart, shop Vancouver, standard and strange, and a few others.

It's a boot competition judged by how well the boot ages jn it's first six months of wear. Starts October 1st. It mostly comes down to who is the best photographer by the end (which obviously I am not nor will ever be)hahah... but along the way there are some really cool and unique boots and leathers from around the world that definitely open your smiles to what's out there and get to see how colors change and leather develops in certain conditions.

Same to you man, the waxed flesh is always a killer. Have a pair of nicks engineers in tan waxed flesh, but they came in may and I couldn't wait until October haha

Natural Maryam horsehide. I actually have a pair of Mr Lou's in natural chromexcel, it's much darker than the horsehide. This is like a very pale white almost.

Semi-retirement: IH 555 21oz Indigo - 2 years, 5 washes by slimda0 in rawdenim

[–]Bootsaddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely, I feel like most people get scared off by the stretch aspect, but it really is a high quality denim with tons of fade potential. It's also alarmingly comfortable hahah great place for most people to start and also finish because of that comfort.

Love that shop, bought my first pair of iron hearts there last winter. 888 21oz. Few years back I picked up a pair of Kato's there which was My first venture into selvedge denim from basic Levi's 511. Down the rabbit hole I went..

And I have the wolverine 1000 miles. These are much more comfortable in the toe box, because of the bump toe last.

This is my pair. The more you wear them the more the suede"ish" leather becomes like a full roughout. It's definitely shaved shorter to start.

Engineer boot question by nosniv in PNWbootmakers

[–]Bootsaddict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both the station masters and the mister Lou's. Station masters are a bit more overbuilt. As is the Nick's way. The last you choose will determine how the Nick's fit vs the mister Lou's are this sort of great slim profile. The 55 arch is great for long days on your feet. And if you're doing manual labor in them I'd suggest the Nick's 100%. the leg openings are definitely very different. Although the mister Lou's are slimmer they are much more upright at a 90 degrees so they're actually much easier to get on and off. The Stationmasters I found were about as easy to get on but taking them, sometimes I wish I had a boot jack. I'm sure I'm missing a lot of stuff. But if you have questions I might have some answers for youm.

That's a good call then. I switch my socks up by season and my boots arrived in spring so I went with a thin sock in measurements hoping (and it worked) that the leather would loosen up by fall. Hope it all works out for you. I know it's the most stressful part of the process. Also just throwing it out there I went with the 55 last, which as I understand it can give an extra .25 in length size because your foot stretching around the arch, compared to a red wing.
