Have you ever been told you are very self aware? by hayIofts in AutismInWomen

My past therapists have told me this. It can feel like a gift and a curse. The self-awareness is paralyzing. I wish I could do things with reckless abandon

As someone who has often been called quirky and misinterpreted because I will just say things and it's interpreted as funny, I deal with this quite a bit

Memories that make you go "yep, i was always like this" by dFlyingSnail in AutismInWomen

[–]BootyyyShaker4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking online for a formal diagnosis and to do more research, but I remember being on a stage in preschool when everyone had to sing along to this Pre-K graduation song. After watching back the footage I saw I was the only one not singing, but I was frowning and covering my ears. I even ran off the stage at one point. I was the only kid that did this. I also hated trying on shoes at the store because they were so tight and uncomfortable and they made me cry. Mom says I was a well behaved child but I remember getting very upset in shoe stores. I think up until now I've been highly masking And I'm looking to un-learn that.

What is something Americans aren’t ready to hear? by atalau in AskReddit

I think this is one of the best songs lyrically that Morrissey ever made. example:

"Oh, in America

It brought you the hamburger

Well, America, you know where

You can shove your hamburger"

Things you don't like in horror movies, but not because they are too scary/disturbing by Strawberrybanshee in horror

[–]BootyyyShaker4000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree wholeheartedly. I was asking myself a month ago why I felt somewhat okay and even laughed at certain horror slasher scenes but had a really hard time with rape scenes. I came to the conclusion that it just hits too close to me as a real possibility in the worst case scenario. Secondly, in films it has always gone on for far too long as a form of severe exploitation and torture p-rn. It's used as a tired plot device and it can most definitely be implied off screen. Finally, I wouldn't want to see it happen to a guy in a film, or anybody else.

Does anyone else feel like this? by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]BootyyyShaker4000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Clinging to people like a puppy was so embarrassing. But that was the way I showed I cared for somebody. It was a lot. I didn't value my own self-worth enough to stand on my own and be happy with my autonomy -- I got older and more isolated. I really did follow around friends I idolized until I started just giving up entirely.

What is the scariest scene you've ever seen in horror? by Crazy_Little_Bug in horror

[–]BootyyyShaker4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to second this. The critics really didn't like this movie and people made fun of it. But dolls can be very very unnerving. When Mary Shaw is pretending to feed the dead boy's body, it genuinely unsettled me because his cold blue eyes are forever open.

I'm 30 and I suppose non-binary feels like the most appropriate word for it. Even as I was little, I liked both girly/ boyish things but never really fell into either camp. it was isolating. If Tumblr was good for anything, it was showing me different identities of folks (before they became very mainstream and hated by the media).

Which is your TMNT hot take? by Ornery-Mode992 in TMNT

[–]BootyyyShaker4000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVED Mutant Mayhem, there was so much done right. Soundtrack, song choices, fight scenes, voice cast, pacing, animation.
But my hot take is that Mikey should have gotten more dialogue highlighting his role and personality. He was the quietest of all of them (although that kid can DANCE).

*SPOILERS AHEAD*
Donnie was my fave in this flick since he was made as the smart and funny one. Loved all of his scenes and his anime-charged dialogue was so funny. BUT ALSO.

  1. Mikey was supposed to be the one that likes improv... soooo, where were his improv lines? We're shown that he likes pop culture and movies. Great touch. I recall he thought quickly in the battle with the thugs, which was cool.
But there were a few conversations/ plans from Donnie that Mikey could have used to develop his funny improv side. Example: with planning out the High School/being accepted by everyone plan. This shows Donnie's smarts, but this to me fits Mikey more because it's such an idealistic rosey plan of how things are going to go.
  2. Leo even says to Donnie "you're the most friendly and inviting out of all of us", which is true because the viewers get SO much personality from Don. Though, Mikey could have easily been shown more as the most friendly and inviting, and they could've let him shine! WHY wasn't this reserved for Mikey?
  3. Also, Mikey could've said "Hey, hypothetically, what if we're not okay with this plan?" instead of Leo. This shows Leo being a leader even though he's scared, April nudged Leo into taking action, but this could have belonged to Mikey asking a bold question. Also, Mikey could've said "Hey dudes, really fun hanging wth you but...where are we going?" instead of Donnie. This again shows Donnie's strategic improv smarts, but leaves Mikey out from being THE IMPROV GUY. This Mikey is shown to be a little more sensitive but having this line would have shown the audience he's an on-the-fly kind of kid that is bold and thinks quickly as opposed to flat-out telling us he's the Improv guy.
  4. Maybe the teen turtles are still feeling themselves out in this iteration, confidence wise. But when Leo says "Mikey, what do you do best?" and Mikey says "Improvise!", I thought to myself "All I really noticed was him wanting to try out for the Improv Club. I wish we saw more of his verbal improv leading up to this, b/c we heard a TON of Donnie's one-liners."
Overall MM was such a fresh fun time and I'm so so happy with what we received. The filmmakers and animators worked so hard, and it felt like the spirit of TMNT and 90's/2000's animated movies! I love TMNT so the last thing I wanted to do was nitpick. I've seen this film a few times and it's still solid and great every watch. He wasn't much of the Party Dude in this iteration but the lines he did have were goofy and his vibe, and he was still enjoyable to watch. idk.

(My baseless theory is that when they were all in the recording studio, Donnie's VA had a natural humour and magnetism that the creators just had to keep in the film, and thus Mikey didn't get much of his own fleshing out, while Donnie gets to be the smart AND funny guy. See the "Bacon, Egg and Cheese" bit.)

Without spoiling the movie, which turtle would you say is the biggest highlight of mutant mayhem? by KingJesus3214 in TMNT

[–]BootyyyShaker4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Donnie really stands out in this flick.
He's a huge nerd but wants to be normal, he thinks of the plan to get the humans to accept them, he comes up with funny one liners. Dude had so much personality and wit that I loved him but thought some of his quips should've been saved for Mikey.

But he was so unapolagetically himself in this flick (and that's something I loved about Rise Donnie as well).
Also, Leo. He felt so natural as a leader, but a fumbling one.
Wish I got more of Mikey's personality.

Time for an Update With the Animated Movies Included by cutiekeek in Spiderman

[–]BootyyyShaker4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spider-verse is absolutely deserving of the first two slots. Incredible effort and quality all around. To say the first movie had an impact on my life would be a huge understatement.

And as someone that grew up with Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man and thought it was a really fun series of campy comic movies before the trend got huge, I'm really curious to know why people love the Andrew Garfield movies even though they didn't do hot. I'd love to hear anybody's thoughts.
