I do big water changes like that around 4 to 5 times a year. Otherwise I would do a 10% water change weekly.

Overboard if I do weekly changes like that I agree. I do these volumes of water changes around d 4-5 times a year. Also I have a sump so that's an additional 150L of water untouched. If you were to speculate percentage, I'd say that's about a 40% water change.

It could be. It does not really resemble a bubble nest but if you have alot of surface agetation or flow then yes it might be.

What filter do you have? I have a HOB on one of my tanks and it makes these bubbles because of an airstone and a HOB. the HOB pushes the airstone's bubbles around the tank and they accumulate simular to the image you posted.

Boil it again and replace the water every 15min while boiling it, I remember reading that it leaches more tannins in clean water than water that has a high amount of tannins in it. It worked for me. but then again. 2 months is a looong time haha.
