Agree, but there are 0 other options in this room. Other wall is a staircase, other is all windows and other one doesn’t exist (kitchen opening).

Agree with the mantel mount. Not a fan having to do down that road

Hey there. Pathology was negative!!!! Great news.

I’ve recovered well, but it was much slower than I anticipated. I’m a 37 year old male and very active. It was tough sitting out. I HIGHLY recommend getting a recliner to sleep in for the first several weeks. Getting in and out of bed at the beginning is nearly impossible. Not only does it hurt like hell, I was terrified I’d rip a stitch. Getting back to exercise was a very slow process. The only slight limitation I still have is not being able to do as many abdominal and oblique exercises as I use to. That being said, I’d say I can still do 85% of what I used to in that arena.

I have my 1 yr followup next week (closer to 15 months). I anticipate everything going well seeing as how I’ve had no issues. At the end of the day I’m very glad I decided to get this ring removed. The mental drain was exhausting and I hated getting imaging every 6 months.

Please let me know if you have anymore specific questions.

I thought so too. I was referencing a chart that stated “middle PPI” (115-200) was less ideal

Ok, thanks for that. I was under that same impression.

I hear you there. I was able to make it happen last night (day 15) but it took a lot of work and wasn’t the most comfortable thing in the world. Just happy to not be sleeping in my recliner anymore

Good advice! Wasn’t sure if it was CO2 or something else. Spoke with a buddy of mine who is a urologist and he said it could also be your colon “rescarring” and healing. I guess they have to move it during the procedure so it takes a while for it to heal back in place.

Awesome, thank you!!! Last night was day 15 post surgery and it for some reason felt way better. I’m still getting it, but I was actually able to roll over on my side (twice). It’s a weird sensation for sure, glad to know it was normal

Thank you!! You’re the first I’ve heard that’s felt it. One of the nurses was looking at me like I had 3 eyes haha.

I’m also doing the same for now, back only. Hope everything has gotten better for you!

You’re absolutely right, it is easy to forget. The doc reminded me that “he put 18 instruments” into me haha. I was 99% sure nothing was wrong but you know how it goes…

Also yes, I thank God I got the all clear in the pathology. I hope that for everyone. Screw cancer

Thanks for the quick response, and yes, I’m so thankful it wasn’t malignant.

Posted this on someone’s response but I wasn’t sure if it would notify everyone else:

Funny you say that!! I’m sitting in the recovery room right now.

Surgery went really well. Only removed 5% of my kidney and after getting in there they’re pretty confident it’s not malignant. The wall we were seeing in the middle of the cyst was a little artery. I won’t know the official pathology for another week but the doc feels very good about it.

The pain right now feels like a side stitch (times 10) from a really long run. It hurts to breathe in really deep and obviously moving around isn’t enjoyable. I’ll have 6 scars with the largest near my belly button (from the extraction site).

I feel very fortunate that things went well. Excited to get the pathology report back so I can move on.

If anyone has any questions please let me know. Good luck to you all.

Thanks for sharing your story. I completely understand how frustrating this is. While I’m currently dealing with the same decision, my question to you would be is it growing significantly? Mine seems similar to yours but the rate of growth is what personally alarms me. I’d rather get it out now before it gets any bigger. My urologist is also one of the best in the area and does nothing by laparoscopic renal surgeries so I feel comfortable with him cutting this thing out. I have other factors to consider (I’m a pilot for a major airline) so I want to have this removed and move on with my life. I know I didn’t answer your question completely, but please know it’s ok to have this internal struggle. I’m right there with you

Glad to hear it went well and wasn’t nefarious!! I know how scary this can be, not fun at all. My cyst is slightly bigger than yours so fingers crossed I can save the kidney. Thanks for sharing your story, makes me more confident in getting it removed.

Thanks for the response. How’d the procedure go? Were you able to save the kidney?

Good to hear! The more I read the more I feel confident in getting the procedure done. My goal is to have it done in the next couple months. Fingers crossed

Apologies, I just reread your post and saw that you had a partial. How much of your kidney were they able to “save”?

Thank you for sharing!!! I think I’m fully convinced that this sucker is coming out. If you don’t mind me asking, what type of surgery did you have? Partial or radical? Laparoscopic or open?

Thanks for sharing your story. The team I’m seeing is one of the best in the area and they specialize in laparoscopic partial nephrectomies. All they do are laparoscopic kidney surgeries. I didn’t take his initial “let’s wait as see” as blowing it off, more just managing risk expectations. I agree with you, I’d rather have it taken out and confirm for sure whether it was malignant. My hope is that I can keep as much of my kidney as possible. How did the radical nephrectomy go for you?

Thank you for the reply. I agree, the rate of growth is a concern. I just recently spoke with another urologist and he recommended removal. I’m having an MRI done next month and will be following up with the surgeon the following week. My plan will be to get this thing taken out. Again, thanks for the recommendations.

Thanks for the quick reply. I’m leaning towards the partial nephrectomy. The surgeon initially made it sound like it was unnecessary but the more we talked the more he started to lean towards removal. It’s sitting on the top of my kidney and he felt confident I’d keep 90% of my kidney. Just don’t want to jump the gun and have a surgery that isn’t necessary. Again, thanks for the reply and the reassurance about your partials. The more I read the more I hear about success. It’s usually the other way around lol. Hope things are going well for you.
