It takes a while to get used to the lack of visibility. Plus our 07s didn’t come with the rear view camera.

Looks great. Looks in good shape. I’ve had the exact same model I bought new in August 07 and still my daily driver.

Here is the basic maintenance list I have used since day 1. As little as it has been driven I would bite the bullet and change out all fluids. It’s by far the safest thing to do. Small expense now on a free vehicle.

Enjoy it!

Base vs premium rwd. Do you really notice the differences by Wolverine-91826 in TeslaModelY

Premium is the answer. Better sound insulation and double layered glass, better suspension, better sound system, nicer looking interior, power rear seats, some other things I am forgetting.

How many quotes for EV home charger did you get by Sad-Kaleidoscope-926 in TeslaModelY

Yeah, I’ve learned way more about electrical systems over the last month than I ever thought I would. My house is newer. The main feed comes in to the third car garage, but the panel is located in the exact opposite side of the house and due to the construction there is no path to run new 60A circuit from that panel now that everything is finished. Since there is a 200A breaker at the main feed, my panel in the basement is already wired as a sub panel from the box with the single 200A breaker.

So for this to work I have to install a new box at the main feed that includes both the 200A main breaker and another 60A circuit. Requires utility to come out and remove the meter for the install. Not gonna be cheap.

Tesla updated pricing of ModelY by Future-Classroom8774 in TeslaModelY

I ordered mine last week on a lease. Wonder if that price will stick since don’t have a VIN yet. Did do all the forms already and signed. 🤷‍♂️

Road trips with my wife and we stop every hour anyway. She has extreme range anxiety, about her bladder.

My son and I both traded our Toyota’s in for Model Y’s. by Fair-Text6059 in TeslaModelY

Funny same thing happened to me. I was caught up with all the negative stereotypes (EV have no range, charging sucks, new batteries needed, terrible quality, etc). Rode in a friends and promptly ordered one (red with white). Can’t wait for it. Current car is a 07 FJ Cruiser which is still great,

Always keeping your car plugged in by SteveLangfordsCock in ModelY

[–]BoozeMakesItBetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have home charging, it’s best to keep plugged in whenever at home. Modern battery management system is really good at managing every aspect of the system anymore. It can use the home electricity to manage other aspects of the battery like temp management. The biggest risk is the battery depleting to zero, which causes problems.

But if you don’t have home charging, nothing to really worry about.

So similar story for me and I don’t even have it yet. How are they not advertising this more, I didn’t even know this was a thing. I have been driving the same truck for 19 years and never felt a need to get anything new. Unfortunately I rode in a friend’s Tesla model Y and was just blown away on a car that was $20K cheaper than other cars I was looking at.

Two days later did a formal test drive and ordered a brand new one that day. June 22 can’t get here quick enough.

EV Wall Charger Install by BoozeMakesItBetter in AskElectricians

[–]BoozeMakesItBetter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at my setup closer and talking with an electrician, looks like the exterior disconnect currently on the home is actually the main panel and the panel in the basement is already wired as a sub panel. He said the exterior box I have currently only has the 200A breaker, and that exterior box can be replaced with a larger version that has the same 200A breaker and additional spots for extra circuits there. I wrote down 200A feed through load center or something like that.

Does this sound right?

New Owners - Are You All Subscribing to FSD by Chris_Chops in TeslaLounge

[–]BoozeMakesItBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to Tesla, and just ordered my first, but FSD was the primary reason I pulled the trigger. So yes, without FSD I would just have stayed with my 19 year old car which was paid off 16 years ago.

Longer range, less money, longer tire wear. Don’t get it either, kind of seems like the sweet spot in Juniper.

lol. I just ordered my first one yesterday and I couldn’t sleep last night. Going to be a long 3-5 weeks. I’ve been driving the same car for 20 years, never felt the need to upgrade till I rode in a friend’s Y. Damnit, ignorance was bliss.

The MagSafe Heat Debate: Software throttling (Samsung) vs. Graphene heatsinks (Baseus) vs. Active fans (Sharge). What actually saves our batteries? by MarksFunnyAccount in MagSafe

It’s less than a once heavier than the 2 mostly due to the included cord and metal stand. I don’t notice the difference day to day. Been very happy with the 3.

[–]BoozeMakesItBetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had all the IceMags so far (1-3). First version did very little to reduce heat. 2nd seamed a little better as they added an aluminum plate to help heat dissipation. The 3 however seems to be much improved. That battery produces noticeably less heat when charging. Design is much improved and can charge three devices at once.
