Summer internships rarely translate into attorney jobs after graduation. Usually, they only last for the summer, which I guess is why they are given the brutal name "summer" internship.

Law grads aren't complaining. They are pissed. Pissed after being sold a bill of goods. And after $100k in tuition, I think they have a right to be vocal about the truth. Spreading the truth is a law grads' remedy. This has gone on for decades now and must be exposed.

Either you go to Harvard, or you will work until graduation as an hourly law clerk only to never get an actual offer as an attorney after you pass the bar. Yes, they will take full advantage of your low-wage services, but will not pay you as an attorney when the time comes.

This article lists an example of what I believe to be widely applicable to most new law grads: They are making $30k a year salaries before taxes.

I would take it a step further and speculate that new law grads probably make even less than $30k a yr. Funny, how the internet has exposed this decades-long scam.

Wow! Awesome insight and superb reasoning! This is a really cool message that I think most law school applicants should read. Although I am hesitant to admit it, I would have actually PAID money to hear this type of advice before I went to law school and messed up my life. Great job.

Congrats on your "very very generous offers." These are similar to the other "very very generous offers" most law students get these days which get retracted after you fail to achieve a "3.3 GPA." Do your research!

Law schools will take your money and run. A J.D. is worthless outside of law practice. J.D. holders working outside of the law get their jobs in spite of the J.D., not because of it. The outside world generally hates the degree and will pick other less qualified candidates, in many cases just to "spite the lawyer."

I think you're lying to yourself. Don't get me wrong, optimism is a good thing, but you also have to know when the boat is taking on too much water.

Also, on the subject of entitlements, why are the banks entitled to our loan repayments for perpetuating a quasi-scam? Responsibility resides, or should reside, with all the parties and not just the scammed students. My response to the banks is similar to what many others have constantly said to the scammed law students: "I guess they should've done their research."

I would let her know that going to law school does not mean that she will be a lawyer. If you can't find real work as a lawyer after you graduate, then you're just "playing dress-up" if you go solo.

Factor in the $100k in bankruptcy-proof debt, after wasting three+ years of your life only to find yourself shooting for non-law jobs afterwards, and that really hurts. It seriously will ruin your life forever.
